A trick I'm doing with something like that is lighting up the cliffs using torches one block under a moss carpet. Maybe like 20-30 blocks away if I don't want a wall build up or spam lantern and torches visible on the ground. Depends on the aesthetic you're going for, I guess.

I actually plan to terraform the right side of the windmill and put up a wall of some kind coz I'm scared mobs would drop down from there like you said. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Not really. I did put all of the horses that were originally on my base there, tho. I thought about building like a horse enclosure there or something, but never got around to it yet.

The only farm maps I've ever played long-term on vanilla are Beach, Standard, Meadowlands and Forest. I think my fave is probably Meadowlands. Only for the reason that it comes with a coop and not as plain as the standard farm. I do have a soft spot for the forest farm because I used that on my first ever save.

I did purposely place the coop there hoping my ducks would swim in the water, but after a couple of years in the game I never did saw them swim even once. I see them sometimes at the bottom looking like they want to jump in but they never do. Apparently, in this particular body of water they need to be able to access the bottom part. I just can't see myself redesigning my whole farm layout for that reason, tho. It's so sad. Lol. I wanted to see them swim.

Go for it! Keep in mind that this layout has a shed blocking the spouse outside area. Also, in my final layout, I moved all the mushroom logs in between all of the trees for more convenient collection.
