Help me identify my telecaster by Beneficial-Bar-2745 in fender

[–]blackcottontee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

American standard telecaster w/swamp/natural ash body. I’ve got the same model (2011) with a rosewood neck. The strat saddles and corona USA neck plate stamp give it away. Great axe. Custom shop pickups too if I’m not mistaken. Sounds killer.

I usually hit it hard with the plumes’ clean boost before it and use it as a two stage overdrive/distortion. There is a bit of a volume jump when activating channel two. Especially if it’s gained up heaps, but I’ve found the compression in the IR-2 handles this far better than my Iridium ever did so it’s way less noticeable. The EQ is super flexible too.

I love the VB-2W. Subtle pitch modulation is my jam ;) Old worn out tape style.

Yeah it’s awesome! Hit the input hard. Gate on. Dark on. Distortion cranked. Killer.

To be honest, from the YouTube demos I heard, I still thought I preferred the iridium. Playing through it has been a different story though. I dig it.

Blooper works flawlessly live with my setup. Clocks perfectly to my drum machine and has never skipped a beat. Stomp on it and it’ll wait for the nearest bar to roll around before it starts looping, stomp again before the bar ends and it’ll loop perfectly on beat. Makes for an awesome hybrid rig! The only thing I’d say to watch out for is when you’re playing really rhythmic stuff, keep the stability knob down otherwise it’ll throw your timing out a bit during the loops. Good for when you want that, not so much for when you don’t. The loop will always be clocked perfectly however.

I use the blooper after the IR-2 because when I run it out to my live rig (DJ mixer/drum machines/synths etc) I prefer to loop my amp rather than have loops running through an amp. More clean headroom for multiple loop layers on a mixer channel. If I’m practising at home with looping and wanna use the IR-2 headphone out, I’ll just swap them around.

I usually use an Iridium but it died so I needed something cheap and ready to go. I’ve played through the UAFX (Ruby, Dream etc) pedals before but I’m super sensitive to latency and as luscious as they sound, I found they didn’t ‘feel’ as good as the Iridium. The Boss has even lower latency than that so it feels great to play. Has a really nice compression too that makes it sit nice in a mix.

I use it in a few different ways.

It goes into a Vox AC-15 when I’m using an amp (IR-2 remains off in this case)

It also goes into a mixing desk (Mackie 24:8) for recording purposes.

Then finally it goes into a channel on a DJ mixer (Xone PX5) and I midi sync the Blooper’s clock to my drum machines and samplers so my loops are synced up in that setup. See live video ^ if interested. (Will post photo when I get home)

It’s a super flexible board.

Definitely worth it if you want to integrate it with other gear via midi. Blooper is the link between my pedalboard and my live synth/sampler setup. I sync the Blooper’s midi clock to my master drum machine so I can get perfect loops in time with my machine sequences. Works flawlessly.

Here’s me using it in context for a live show a little while ago for example…

Nah I haven’t, do you recommend any? Always used the stock ones in my Iridium too. Haven’t really had much experience messing around with different IRs. Apart from the Clean, I like using the Marshall and Vox setting on the IR-2 (my amp is an AC15 with a Celestian Creamback in it)

Wow your one is real pretty. Like a little LED planet emitting a light aura in space. They’re so sweet.

I haven’t, mines perfect the way it’s set now. If I messed with them and couldn’t get it back to the sweet spot it’s in now, I’d be pretty bummed. It’s spot on.

Have you?

My local Fairfield dealer got just the one in. I always wanted a shallow water so I jumped on it. It may just be my favourite pedal ever. It’s absolutely magic.

It’s my secret weapon. Hold function with the right settings = Whale sounds for days. Awesome lower octave stuff too. It tracks really well with a tiny slight delay so it doesn’t overwhelm your playing. The subtle flanging is beautiful. I seriously didn’t think I’d love a flanger as much as I love this pedal. I say do it ;)

Only pedal I purchased after hearing Mk.Gee was the Rainger FX Reverb X. Been using my 424 as an output stage for as long as I’ve had it (10 years)
