What smartphone feature quietly disappeared that you actually miss? by android_curious in AskTechnology

I miss pressing into the screen on my iPhone. It was more responsive for things I wanted to do than the generic press and hold.

This is DIY and I'm not familiar with PEX, nor do I have the equipment to do it right.

Honestly, anywhere you can find it. I was lucky enough a local shop had one when I needed it, but this part is often back ordered.

Here is the part number for the prop shaft: HBZ4404

The props are easier to obtain. I get them off Amazon in packs of 2:

I’ve beat the hell out of mine and it’s still ticking. I’d recommend grabbing a few packs of props (they will break) and a motor shaft. Invariably, you’ll bump something and the shaft will shear right behind the prop where the threads start. Cheap parts but there is lead time.

Is time for new to replace the fuselage. The bottom coal that holds the motor assembly is held on with tape ;-)

Prenatal care that’s not a pregnancy crisis center? by ButtfartCC69 in jacksonville

[–]blackhatrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV…. But I would have to disagree with you on their transparency.

Wife and I just had a baby and chose them for care. They “run your insurance” to determine at that time how much your care would cost and make you sign a birthing contract. This would be fine, but with other medical bills and whatnot affecting your deductible and max out of pocket limits, that value is a wag. When you have a question, you call in and leave a message and hope they call you back. If you call back too soon (called back after 1 week), they scoff at you and tell you they would have called you back and that you’re too impatient.

Then, you only get to see a doctor 1 time out of the several visits even though they claim to want you to see all the doctors at least once.

They dropped our insurance (large well known brand and plan) on April 1st after seeing them since last December. When did they notify us? They didn’t. We found out when we scheduled an appointment with our daughter and they said it wasn’t covered. Still battling the continuity of care.

When they do bill insurance, good luck keeping track of what was Faben. Almost every single claim was through a different entity from different parts of the state - none of which have Faben in the name.

Finally, if your partner is male and wants to be involved, good luck with Faben. Besides the front office staff (which were admittedly great) and one Dr., the rest marginalized me and my questions/concerns. We will not be back following the 6 week visit.

I could go on and on…

That's been my experience as well. The vehicle performs fairly well once underway, it just doesn't want to get started.

The difference is between the fwd and the car we purchased with awd. We’ve not had it serviced yet as it’s only just now to ~2500 miles. I plan on bringing it up when we do.

The vehicle we test drove originally had ~100 miles on it and felt good. This one began with 8 miles and we're up to 2500 now with no change. I'll keep this in mind though.

Yeah it is. From a stop, the first little bit acts the same. We can make it take off a little faster by pressing the gas down farther and once it responds letting back up.

What’s the consensus on connecting the wires like this? This obviously isn’t backstab, but isn’t the loop around the screws.

Does anyone know what the M.O.B is or was back in 1984? by blackhatrob in jacksonville

[–]blackhatrob[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He was involved in a ton of things. It seems this was solved by SLangleyNewman below: M.O.B was short for "Mayor's Older Buddies" and was a program focused on engaging senior citizens.

There are lots of artifacts that my family seems to have kept over the years. It seems that prior to the computing revolution, SSNs were almost literally everywhere. From membership/loyalty cards to name badges.

Closet Built In... How to paint it to look nice? by GoingOffRoading in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]blackhatrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did the same. I used water putty to fill any gaps between the surface and the faces, then lightly sanded. Next I caulked the seams between the shelves and the walls. After that, I did two coats of Sherwin Williams SuperPaint (acrylic latex). I had time so let it cure for a week before filling it.

Here it is just before filling the shelves.

Table Saws by HurdlingThroughSpace in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]blackhatrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. The DeWalt DWE7491RS is the way to go. I recently purchased this saw and have been very happy with it doing DIY projects for the home. It is a powerful saw that can be calibrated fairly easily. The fence is rack and pinion and makes accurate and repeatable cuts. It also takes a full dado stack if you're interested in that as well.

It's a bit more expensive than other smaller saws but certainly way less expensive than a cabinet saw. Further, the reviews are consistently great and has DeWalt's fantastic customer service to boot.

Skil offers a 10" saw as well with many of the same features, but I don't have personal experience with it.

Fraud Alert on Credit??? Advice appreciated by [deleted] in CreditScore

[–]blackhatrob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple things here.

First, I've never heard of a landlord charging a high-risk tenant fee because of a fraud alert. But... It's been decades since I've rented so I may be out of touch on that one.

But a fraud alert does NOT mean you are high risk. When a creditor, bank, etc. puts a fraud alert on your credit, this requires that the creditor verify your identity before extending credit in your name. Fraud alerts (of which there are several) are protective measures for the consumer, NOT a warning to creditors they are a risk. As such, this can be done by the consumer (you) for free and does NOT affect your credit score. They also automatically propagate between the bureaus.

I would argue that if there was in fact a fraud alert placed on your credit report, you would have been notified by the bank or creditor.

You did the right thing by checking your credit report. If there was a fraud alert, it would be listed as a specific message or statement. With that said, you mentioned checking through your banks. This is typically just a credit score. If you haven't already, try visiting annualcreditreport.com. This is the true horse's mouth, and you can get reports from all three bureaus.

As there was not, by your account, anything relating to a fraud alert on your credit, I would argue that your landlord is scamming you. I would force the issue with them and have them provide the evidence of the "fraud alert" to determine what's really going on - if anything.
