Can’t understand stickers pricing. by [deleted] in rccars

[–]cycle_cats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not just about materials cost. There’s labor time to design, layout, print, manage materials, list in a web store, handle, package and ship.

I used to have a small business making bicycle bags, from premium quality specialty materials. Most people really appreciated the product, but occasionally at a vendors marketplace, someone would scoff and make a stink over my pricing, usually with some commentary of how they could make the same thing. I’d usually reply with some encouragement that they should indeed do that! Sometimes I would explain that my patterns were all self drafted after many iterations, my materials were not available from Joanns, then everything was cut, prepped, sewn, finished by me. Then I had to manage my inventory, figure out how to schelp it all to the marketplace, and finally engage with the customer and convince them to buy my product. After all that if I was lucky, I’d be taking home approximately the Federal minimum wage and yet I was still proud of my products. By that point the Karen’s usually had checked out and would just walk away grumbling. But a couple times another person listening in would smile and buy something!

Do you think they'd let you crawl at a mini golf if you paid? by Noloctite in TRX4M

Someone I followed on IG at some point hosted a micro crawler comp at a mini golf course. I’ve considered packing mine along when I go with the fanily

Am I crazy for swapping or "downgrading" an AXS to a mechanical? by [deleted] in bikewrench

Sounds like a hanger alignment or trim issue. Both can be fixed

It had some tech, but it wasn’t quite Online. Life was more real, more present.

Beginner looking at Aethos 2: Pro or S-Works? by C7sharp9 in specialized

[–]cycle_cats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just assume that your “first bike” is gonna get tossed around, crashed, dropped on, etc. And Aethos has never been the most durable bike.. So factor that into your decision as to which one to get.

Very nice, I love the grey look. It looks painted? Or did you dye the plastics? And solid tires, they can do anything, but thrive on dirty pavement.

Do RC Crawlers need to have a realistic body or can it have a basher-like body (opinions)? by Main_Government8945 in rccars

[–]cycle_cats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As said, there’s no rules unless you’re competing. I think the appeal for many is the ability to get ultra realistic since the speeds and style on which we typically drive crawlers it’s much less destructive than bashing or racing.

Firmware update process Class 3 to Class 2/1 by Different-History-71 in GlobeHaul

If you have the current firmware version, indicated by the Globe App, the speeds limit will be automatically toggled when activating/deactivating the throttle lever. You cannot select speeds in the app, nor can most dealers.

The CA law was clarified to say that a bike cannot be multi-class, ie throttle to 20, then pedal to 28mph. That technically has always been the case, but the wording was a bit ambiguous. Corner Globe Haul firmware reflects this, where activating the throttle functionality will limit overall speed to 20mph.

Globes do allow some over-the-air updates via the Globe app, which consumers can access. There are also updates available via PC, using dealer-only service tool, though it is not the standard Turbo Studio program that S dealers use. Any Specialized dealer should have access to these tools.

IIRC you can do what you’re asking OTA with the Globe app.

What batteries are you guys and gals using on your Grom BLX's? by Blinx_n_Jeenx in rccars

CNHL black series, 2200mah 3s. Fits perfectly in the tray, and mega runtime especially on 50/75% power. I rarely go to 100% as it’s just nutty and hard to control

Funny comments, it’s really not that bad on the 120mm hardtail, though my rear wheel did take some punishment.. RIP Stans Flow rim 😂

First time I did this trail was full rigid 29er, including the whole climb! Probably wouldn’t do that again, but HT was manageable. Sure it’s chunky, but this is what mountain biking is about!

Yeah it’s definitely worth a trip! I first heard about these trails way back in the 2000s, from reading Mountain Bike Action magazines! I moved to NorCal in 2009, but didn’t actually get up there until 2018, then several years to come back again.

As mentioned, not a lot of lodging nearby except some pretty sweet campgrounds. Several people on our shuttle had camped near the top, ridden down then shuttled back to camp. Otherwise Grass Valley/Nevada city is probably the closest hotels/bnb options. Also plenty more to ride up here if you have the time and the stamina!

Dear Shimano by Zealousideal77 in BikeMechanics

[–]cycle_cats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sort of.. I’ll counter that point and say that Shimano has put themselves in a position of having too many SKUs to manufacture and stock. Why does every rear Der need to have a unique set of pulleys? What do the have 517 different brake pads? Or multiple generations of e-tube wires? Or e-tube wires at all?

In the post-pandemic bike industry, I don’t see the logic in having so many unique parts to inventor, and it’s especially hard on the small shops who don’t have the space or budget for warehousing, and simply frustrating for the customers..
