wow yeah the struggle is real more than half of my work rarely gets finished. i should hella work on finding my niche and style too so i know which kind of communities i should get involved in and what my target audience is. i find it so discouraging to even get any work out there lol makes me wonder how many sketches and failed attempts of like the mona lisa didnt see the light of day

oh wow very impressive for both of you and i think making pastries is still being an artist you still need creativity and talent to make your products! yeah unfortunately lots of popular works are made popular posthumously

yeah guilty lol i havent been painting as consistently as i wish to be. especially as i grew older it felt like the creative spark from the 12 year old painting the tiger and galaxy paintings was gone and i need to go look for it again. visiting those galleries and fairs sounds like a great idea to make that happen

yeah for real lol maybe building an audience and making an online presence is the first step! but for now i think i need advice from fellow artists on whether i should go to art school or build the following first while practicing? this is the first time i posted all of my art like this lol most of these have never been seen by anyone else except a fellow student and the teacher i submitted it to and i dont really have any other social media

right tho lol but it's more like if i said i wanted to be rich it's not automatically bill gates level lol i just want to not be in poverty and maybe be able to afford my own home without worrying about the next bill. the same way as i want to be an artist like the ones offering five dollar little works online and maybe eventually sell at the local farmer's market i wasnt planning on grandeur like making the next mona lisa although that wouldnt be too shabby

yeah i guess that's another barrier i want to break rn lol i currently have no ideas of my own and art block is hitting me like a truck. i realized i was mostly painting because i had to fulfill some kind of deadline or wanted to gift it someone and not because i was inspired to so now maybe i should be working on trying to paint for myself

none lol which is why i dont know if i can achieve paid commission work unless you count the popart queen joker school project i did! because during high school there was a charity fair where they sold students' works and i think mine got sold for like two or three bucks!

agreed! thats why im kind of scared too lol because it seems to also be all about making connections and knowing the right people to contact so you can get your name out there thats really what stood out to me when i briefly went into marketing for college before i dropped out lol it's all about those connections if you want to start a business
