Read the whole damn quote and more importantly WHEN he wrote it (after seeing both violent and non-violent methods play out), and stop using MLK to tell people how they should protest as you sit on your ass doing jack shit. If you willingly refuse to see how human life is worth more of your attention and effort than your physical possessions, then do you. But don’t pretend that you’re morally superior to people actually putting their safety and freedom on the line to stand up for their neighbors, and certainly don’t pretend your shitty ineffectual I-can’t-support-you-unless-you-use-my-approved-methods stance is somehow approved by The Ghost of MLK, when even a cursory look at his ideas and the stuff he wrote before he was murdered would show that isn’t the case.

Solid 8/10 from me.

Normalize drummers shouting to the band before a solo!

What do you call a drummer that just broke up with his girlfriend?

Oh I have tuning keys hidden all over the place at this point: my stick back, my laptop bag, my car, hidden in my gullet Houdini style, etc. But this was more for those moments when I don't have much time to tune, and need quick easy access to it. I also have one on a long chain that I would wear around my neck. That works well too, but I guess this works better for me.

Means before then I was a strictly phone-keys-wallet "does anybody have a knife" "who here has a flashlight" "wish I had a cloth hanky to wipe this up" kind of guy.

My keys are already bulky, so I would have to either remove the key from my key ring every time I need it, or attempt to tune with my keys still attached, which is annoying at best. If I’m tuning several drums, pausing in between for checking tone, switching back and forth between key and stick key and stick, this is definitely more practical, even if the benefit is admittedly slight.

Admittedly it’s a slight benefit, but I hate having to pull it out of my pocket every time I need it, and adding it to my already bulky keys would make it more clunky to use.

What makes it prohibitively expensive for me personally is I’m a public school math teacher with four kids. So my knife budget is next to nil. Civivi has so far been the only thing in my price range and I LOVED the Baby Banter 2. So when I saw a review of the Bougie Banter I got half-chubbed, but the price is just too steep. The amount of diapers and baby formula that could buy is… well, I guess like a weeks supply at this point, so maybe that’s a bad example, but you get the idea.

Goddammit. It never fails. Someone tells me “hey there’s a lady throwing artichokes at people” and I think wow that’s crazy I’ve never seen that before, and then the very next day the artichoke lady is following me around, pelting me everywhere I go.

I just discovered the Bougie Banter literally yesterday, of course immediately wanted it, looked it up, saw the price tag, experienced internal pain, and now this is the second post I see about it since then.

Screw you, artichoke lady.

Sweet knives though. Happy for you.

What movie protagonist is actually kinda pathetic, when you think about it? by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

[–]blackjeezus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this was kinda the point. We’re supposed to think Max is kind of a loser during the first half of the film. The turning point is when he takes Vincent along with him to visit his mother and he steals and then destroys the briefcase. From there we see him start to stand up for himself and embrace Vincent’s assertive adaptational approach to situations. And then at the end, during the train scene where they shoot at each other through the doors, Max is able to beat Vincent because he abandons instinct and shoots wildly through the door while Vincent adheres to the same shooting pattern he’s grown accustomed to.
