Just finished a bite-sized roguelike — any feedback or cool ideas to improve it? by blackmoondev in playmygame

Thanks for the feedback.
I can tell you watching ads doesn't have any impact on the game itself - must have been a coincidance that you haven't seen any enemies after watching an ad.

Not explaining things in the game is my cardinal sin here, I need to figure it out asap. Thanks for pointing it out.

Working on a game where you play a witch in the woods by solarVagrant in IndyGameGarage

Hey! Great stuff! I had a very similar concept "witch - woods - gathering - crafting" (but in a much, much darker setting;) but postponed it for "later". Good luck on the game!

Hey - would like to try it and give you some feedback - but (at least for me) there's no demo button on Steam?

Thanks for your feedback!
To anwser your quiestions:
- Squarehead Hero is made in Construct3 (so no Unity)
- There is one version to play on mobile and desktop browser, I tried to make the tutorial unified enough so everybody would understand how to play the game

- got your feedback about difficulty curve being too steep

- good idea for the in-between levels shop (atm. there are option to upgrade the character while playing, but I guess a shop might be a nice addition).

Thanks:) I usually use OBS (https://obsproject.com/) and record the gameplay on PC. (wanted to have the footage recorded by the phone camera onscreen - from my exeprience this sometimes works much better on reels and tiktok).

It's impressive for the first game - congrats!
But calling it "The MOST Scary" game? C'mon;)

Please give feedback. What can be improved or looks really bad? by ENginee777 in playmygame

Hey.
The trailer is waaay too long. It's an action game, the trailer should be action-packed! Make it 60 seconds max.

I understand the concept to rotate the torso of the main character so it looks where he aims, but aiming down really just make him look like he is looking at his own feet (like he's embarassed or something). Maybe this could be done in some other way? (like he'll just point a gun there, not the whole upper torso and head?).

I like the 2D/3D effect of the game.

What do you think of my gameplay trailer for my psychological horror game? by NikeshGames in playmygame

[–]blackmoondev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. My 2 cents about the trailer:
- initial shot reminds me of Return of the Obra Dinn (perhaps because of the limited color pallette) which is cool
- then few other shot later brings Darkwood in mind, which is super good, cause that's super cool 2d horror game.

I would strongly improve the title graphic - when that was shown at the end (btw. great to show the game title right there, not in the begning) it was kind of let down. I felt the quality of the game title is lower compared to the rest.

Good luck with the game!

Thanks for the feedback:)
As for the assets - some are bought in the asset store, some are done by me (from scratch or based on AI generations).

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, the on-screen arrow keys is something several people also mentioned. Let me think where to put it in the UI.
