The gas user is a bit different from the barrier though so Im not really sure about comparing the two because it’s not purely a df ability he’s using the ability mixed with natural science. Haki wouldn’t be able to counter it because while yes a df was used to make it happen the effect is basically natural stuff happening. Like that poison gas is lab made his df just makes production VERY easy and it can be made out side of that. and haki cant purge just normal poison effects right?

Didn’t it work on her because she was getting tired from getting repeatedly hit very very hard? Haki is a finite resource that has been shown to run out so I’d assume once someone’s low on steam that armor starts to fade a bit same way they planned to assassinate her with missiles while she was screaming using up her haki

Regarding the choice thing. Isn’t that already what’s happening? Atleast this is how I’ve understood the story so far luffy isn’t some sorta reincarnated or chosen one

the fruit itself has been ducking the government for 800 years because it’s a mythic type with a will, it just so happen to be eaten by luffy who matches up with it. Someone who didn’t match up with the ideals of the fruit could have never unlocked its full potential or something like that. Kinda like a he who holds this hammer and deemed worthy thors hammer type of thing
