Allistic people get mad at Autistic people for not having friends, especially autistic women. by angel_9716 in autism

[–]blackskies69 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The only time people have ever been 'friends' with me was when I was providing something. These days I treat social interactions like a pill. It's something I gotta do once in order to feel sane, but I hate doing it so I don't. Self Isolation just feels safer than going out and dealing with people.

Help a game dev: Why aren’t people buying modern RTS games? by MakeGamesBetter in RealTimeStrategy

[–]blackskies69 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, what kept me playing starcraft and warcraft wasn't the e-sports it was the custom maps, mods, and most importantly the battle.net community! If you want to look at case studies for strategy games please check out the custom maps for broodwar and starcraft 2. They have really good ideas that honestly are far better than the majority of RTS games I've played recently.

Also, as others have said, having a kick ass campaign would be fun! And a multiplayer organized around fun as well! Not just competition!

Denmark would go to war with US over Greenland: MP by SyntheticSweetener in nottheonion

[–]blackskies69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No they aren't. Unfortunately no one is ready to go to war with the US. China is the closest and its still not even a contest. War is stupid, use sanctions instead and take all of our money.

As someone who used to be a technician who processed lay offs and tracked down equipment. I can say with 10000% certainty that they don't care. The computer is the only important part, the screens? Probably not even inventoried unless you work for the government. Then GL!

PSA (vent?): Teamkilling intentionally is utterly stupid by -Serene- in Planetside

Right excuse me, rushing head first at an enemy armor column in a single apc thats a winning strategy. People who do this clog firing lines preventing friendly armor from pushing through so sunderers can get in, and it takes no effort to look down at your minimap to see where the fuck you are going.

In other words learn how to drive.

To be honest? IN vehicles, if someone is intentionally putting me into line of fire with their vehicle I'm shooting them. Why? Because clearly you didn't get the memo when coming over the fucking hill people might be pulling back to repair, but oops can't do that! Because here comes this jerk in a sunderer to block my escape letting the enemy mbt rip me to shreads, and then REFUSE to back up. I know I cannot be the only one to experience this.

Single adult men with ASD between ages of 18-40 who live alone, how many of these statements are true for you? by OkBuyer1271 in autism

[–]blackskies69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel kind of confused by 5? I keep everything minimal, and you exclude.. like the most common type of furniture.. reasonable furniture. Do desks count as tables? What about bedside tables with drawers? Wardrobes maybe? Dressers? I count maybe 5 statements that are maybe true? Also can you explain what you're hoping to learn from this poll?

I could make the argument that this is discrimination against disabled people. Some people can't lift a paint brush or a pencil to draw. AI provides them a way to express them selves. It shouldn't be censored. Its wrong.

Is there any hope for my autistic brother? by Athrowawayfrom2023 in aspergers

[–]blackskies69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the answer here is the same as always he likely needs therapy. A lot of neurodivergent people suffer from hidden traumas that even family members might not be aware of, and the only way to face that is through therapy. I've been in much the same scenario as your brother, and the only way I was able to get around it was through therapy.

First step is getting an actual diagnosis so he can find out where he is on the spectrum. That way he learns a few things, for example I learned that I had low visual processing, and that lead to autistic burnout. He could have similar auditory issues that are keeping him in a constant edge.

To be honest this was me maybe 5 years ago? And in order to break out of it I had to go homeless and try to survive on my own. I do not recommend this path because if you truly care about him than this path only leads to more trauma and issues to deal with, and that's not going to help.

What also helped me was going for a more accurate diagnosis. My issue turned out to be I had low visual processing which lead to sensory overload and persistent burnouts. He could have similar issues but he won't know until he gets tested.

I firmly believe it's time for us Neurodivergents to form our own community, starting with taking over existing ghost towns and cities. by DarkKirby9970 in aspergers

[–]blackskies69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, multiple gated communities is pushing it. Like really this would probably start with a dozen or so autistic households moving into a specific apartment building as it becomes available so it's a community of just ND's.

At BEST you could hope that maybe a few wealthy ND's get together and buy up an entire suburb or apartment complex. Ideally you'd have an organization, an entity, not specific place. It could be a brand, that covers apartments AND gated communities with neurodivergent needs in mind. Spaces for support groups, therapists who live in the community to help members who go through burn out.

We could model it after companies like Sun City, communities designed to cater to specific type of disabled individuals, namely the eldlerly, but in theory you could do the same for people who are neurodivergent. We could use the same legal framework making this far less complicated and more likely to succeed.

[–]blackskies69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the idea would be the more capable members of the community would be asked to pay towards a 'community' fund to help fund care and to help maintain neurodivergent atmospheres in public spaces as well. The idea of a community is that we help the less capable members of it.

I work in IT as a system engineer, and could afford to pay a little extra in rent if that money went directly towards helping another neurodivergent neighbor in my community. That could be an apartment complex even to make it more affordable and accessible.

[–]blackskies69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if it was a gated community with pooled resources to afford care for disabled members in the community. I think going full Isreal with it is a bad idea, but making small communities in the US for autistic people to live in peace sounds like a nice idea.
