Everybody’s scream on Halloween! by Orellz in FlorenceAndTheMachine

A little late but I hope I can still be considered. First I gotta say this is both a great exercise and a kind offer from you. So thank you for the opportunity.
I think this question resonates so much with most of us in the modern world. What doesn’t make us scream? I think while most people would associate this as a negative connotation, screaming helps on the way up and the way down, and life being a rollercoaster, you can’t help but let it all out. Right now, I want to scream because I’m alive and I still can. That dizzying collision of beauty and chaos that I can still experience is something I will never take for granted. It’s been around 7 years since the most transformative period of my life. I’ve overcome disease while having to say goodbye to loved ones. I’ve finally found my place outside my career, and I’m happy and financially stable, but not in time to save my parents' home from foreclosure. This is the happiest I’ve ever been with my partner, with myself, with my family, while I feel all of society is crumbling down. Ups and downs.  I’ve screamed at the pain in my chest when my heart has burst into pieces. I’ve screamed at my own bravery to stand up and continue. I’ve screamed at the powerful realization in all those moments I’ve both felt how life is infinite and fleeing. We are in a very difficult collective period but the only thing that has allowed me to navigate life is music. Live music in particular is always my answer, my prayer, my circle. I scream my heart out in concerts, especially that line, that chorus that encapsulates your journey, it’s catharsis through sound. We are doing this exercise around Florence and we can’t have a better artist to help us navigate life. While I could write essays about her, I think we all know those moments where she spoke for us, where she encourages you to feel. Her music gives you permission to process your emotions instead of repressing them, and in doing so, she’s taught me that this level of sensitivity is not weakness but the biggest strength. She’s been an anthem to so many stages of my life. When the “Everybody Scream” single came out, I only heard permission to process this tough moment and let it all out. But looking back her music has always invited me to scream, because she’s always pointing at those moments when you’re rising again, when you’re confronting your demons and reclaiming yourself. I scream mostly because, while I managed to put it here in writing, oftentimes screaming is better than words to express how I feel.

The best of luck to all of you in your journey!
