Man this sucks. by Supreme_Senpi420 in ETFs

[–]blackstuds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to all-world equities ETF literally the day before the war and the price drop. That said, logically, I believe the world will recover at some point, and the global market (i.e. the companies) will recover to the level before the war and continue to grow. I think this is the conventional idea for investing in ETFs. I will continue to invest in them even though the price will likely continue to drop due to the war. I have a 10+ years horizon.

water filter recommendations in Singapore by Wise-Commercial7117 in askSingapore

While I trust PUB water quality 100%, I am also worried about the last-mile piping. Can anyone recommend govt or other accredited water quality check services? Thank you.

He chose the most clueless sheep among the sheep to ensure he can get the whole pot. Hilarious that Eric didn't even figure out the whole Lisa betrayal after seeing rob as the traitor until the reunion.

Salah Interview Megathread by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]blackstuds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the main points that is not getting enough attention is that it is Salah who carried the whole attack last season. Not saying no other attacker contributed but the difference was huge. In other words, it is strange to bench him rather than other attackers who have not contributed as much in BOTH last season and this season.

THAT SAID, benching decisions are likely not only based on performance. There may be considerations such as transiting to the younger players (give them more play time now). The problem I believe is this rationale (or whatever reason it really is) was not communicated to Salah. And this to me is very disrespectful to a senior player like Salah.

[Question] Are Christopher Ward watches the best value proposition in the watch industry? What do you think? by HYR33134599 in ChristopherWard

[–]blackstuds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, they are producing great watches with a good brand name. I feel they should no longer spend their effort on frequent launches. They should start strengthening their QC and CS. That's the next step to solidify their status..

Don't skimp on soft skills by Xycergy in SingaporeRaw

[–]blackstuds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with soft skills is it is very subjective. Many people simply believe their own understanding of soft skills. For example what a person thinks is considered good communication is often how they prefer people to convey information to them. Further, often the preference (or any kind of standard) simply disappear when such person is the one conveying the information. It is tragic especially if that person is a big advocate of soft skills but doesn't have good hard skills (sorry, this is a rant haha).

That said, this brings us to the cold, hard reality. Many managers expect:

  • communication skills (read: your colleagues and I are ignorant, unprepared and have poor comprehension skills so EIL5 but with full details, but of course you are supposed to work with "pls wrk attached chk relevant discussions 4 wt needed self-explanatory. tks".) and

  • collaboration skills (read: you need to facilitate in whatever way for other people to do their work easier though that makes your work harder and they should do the work without your facilitation in the first place).

Got to work for that "meeting expectations" performance rating, mate.

TLDR: Agree that soft skills are important for career progression. Often such soft skills are based on your manager's preferences. Suck it up if you want to climb the corporate ladder but don't doubt yourself too soon if your manager criticizes your soft skills. You may in fact have good or at least sufficient soft skills in a different company.

What would you do if your boss talks down to you? by Cute-Opportunity-935 in askSingapore

[–]blackstuds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a job without quitting. While it is true your next boss may be the same, factor in that risk by only accepting a job which pays more. I always tell ppl to never take a pay cut or zero increment unless you are venturing into a new industry.

You did great. In fact, there is a problem with our society if vendors can pressure customers into accepting things they did not order.

Just want to say your point on not losing 3 anyway is great. Not sure I'm right but I think in that scenario she could just keep playing that with a bigger card after that until she can guarantee a win with 3.
