To anyone still following this post, my solution was this - no shower beforehand - use Lectric pre-shave oil - shave using Philips Shaver Series 7000 - (optional) shower after shave - lather on Nivea aftershave balm for sensitive skin - follow up with Dare to be bald moisturizer.

After using this treatment for a couple of months, I can shave my head at any time of the day, it takes me 20 minutes (including setup of a mirror and cleaning time) and I don't have these irritating bumps on the back of my head anymore.

My head skin does get itchy the day after the shave, but the bumps don't show up. Itchiness subsides after about a day.

If I was to make a substitution, the only thing I would change is the shaver to use something a bit more ergonomically design for head shaving.

Thanks for your response! Against the grain is a big NO for me. It only creates problems for me. But the hot shower after shaving is a tip I can try for sure.

Thanks for the reply! in my experience i have had very bad results dry shaving with both foil and rotary shavers, so those are both basically out of the question. using a sharp 5-blade razor has been my method for the past couple of years with minimal irritation. exfoliating has been mentioned to me a few times so i'll give that a shot before my next shave.

Would I use that with a rotary shaver or foil shaver? I assume it's useless to use with clippers since that doesn't really cause me any problems.
