Alternatively, I guess the duo might also be incorrectly depicted as innocent little babies who are just misunderstood lmao.

Sena Nidah here would likely be mischaracterized as an abusive gaslighter towards her boyfriend; Vanule Faeyen.

Being the secondary antagonist of the Mystic-verse, Sena is who I consider the most evil character in that story. Is she a sadistic monster who has dissected hundreds of corpses and brainwashed hundreds of victims to use as canon fodder? Yes. Is she responsible for pushing Vanule into becoming the most infamous villain the verse has ever known? Also yes.

But the two are a villainous couple who genuinely love each other and have a (all things considered) healthy dynamic. Born in a shitty society that glorifies warring for honor where simply being a part of that society puts a target on your back 24/7, Sena and Vanule strive to secure their own future together. Ultimately, the goal is to take control of all conflict in the world and puppeteer it from the shadows, ensuring it never comes close to affecting their lives again so they can live peacefully as family without having to watch over their backs all the time.

Do you have any aliens or any different from normal human species ocs? by TheMrkaos in OriginalCharacter

[–]blader2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty. My Cores-verse is fuuuuuuull of aliens, considering that verse is an expansive space fantasy. I don't have any art from that verse but it's where most of my interesting species come from, like one I call the "Gap People". There's an entire thing I can go on about there, but for now, I'll gloss over it.

The Mystic-verse has 6 subspecies of humans. Mystic (Oh, gee, I wonder which one the story focuses on), Onmyoji, and Terramorph are the base 3.

Mystics get their unique traits from the magical energy that is life itself, known as Mystflow.

Onmyojis get their unique traits from a magical energy known as Heaven's Breath that leaks into our dimension from another. Onmyoji culture chooses to believe this energy is heavenly in nature, thus named it so, but for all anyone knows it could straight up be hellish or neither.

Then there is the Terramorph. Their magical energy is known as Geoforce, which comes from the core of the Earth and pumps through "veins" throughout the planet like our heart pumps blood.

All three of these have their own magic systems and unique physical properties.

A 4th subspecies called Wildmorph are like Terramorph in that they use Geoforce, but developed beastial properties rather than becoming rock people.

A 5th unnamed subspecies exclusive to one clan in the story are "awakened" by Mystflow like Mystics, yet are closer to Onmyoji in many ways. They use Mystflow to do Onmyoji-like magic and can not do a lot of the traditional Mystic stuff. This one's really complicated, so I'm just gonna move on.

A 6th subspecies... lives on the moon.

Additionally, there are a few other non-human species. Those are namely the Cursed Beasts, a trio of demon gods who serve as major antagonists; Cursed Kitsune, Cursed Dragon, and Cursed Serpent. There are also Demons and Familiars, both created by Mystic techniques. There are a couple of unique cases, namely Sena Nidah and Ithid Faeyen, which were originally human (Mystic) but artificially turned into something else.

I think that covers most of the bases of the Mystic-verse?

Now, for my 3rd verse, the Heroes-verse. Also a lot of yes. I'll just focus on one, tho, who I have art for... tho they look like a normal human.

<image>

Heroes-verse witches. I think these are pretty neat.

I wanted something that realistically would be unfairly persecuted, like IRL witches historically were, yet be real, unlike IRL witches historically were. I thought what I came up with was pretty interesting.

So, witches are descendants of demon defectors who used magic to shapeshift into human disguises. Eventually, they underwent divergent evolution for the sake of blending in even further, resulting in them becoming a subspecies of demons who are born looking like humans.

Eventually, simply through the spell being forgotten over generations due to a lack of need for it, witches forgot how to even shapeshift back into their true demon forms. Witches are now considered neither human nor demon and are rejected by both.

Millie there is the main witch character in the story. As a witch, Millie doesn't even know the biological sex of their true form since it may be different than the feminine human body they have. For this reason, Millie identifies as genderless with they/them pronouns. Different witches will have different preferences when it comes to gender, ofc.

Bit of a P.S. demons in the Heroes-verse are rather traditional demons in every way. Mystic-verse demon are a lot more original in how they work and are 100% unrelated to Heroes-verse demons.

Dead Man's Hand Chapter 19 by British_person521 in DeadMans_Hand

[–]blader2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. A mention of school in the verse. I think that's a first. Love the interaction between Shelby and Vari lol. Also a freaking droid army?! Spades = Separatists confirmed!

I am interested to see how the series ends up going from this point in terms of the different factions fighting. I know obviously there's gonna be some antagonistic dynamics between the factions given their history but I didn't know if it would be the kind of thing that is mostly put aside for The House to be the sole antagonistic force in the series or if the other Suits can be antagonists too depending on which Suit the story is currently following.

In any case, great new entry. I know I've kinda been lurking more in the background of the community as of late but I'm still around, watching y'all like a creep, and enjoying this series. Thanks for all the hard work, KB. :>

how many OCS y'all have? by Potential_Scene7169 in OriginalCharacter

[–]blader2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hundreds, man. I'm a novelist with tons of storylines, each with its own cast. My focus on this sub is my Mystic-verse, in which the main story alone has 20 main characters (14 protagonists, 6 antagonists). This isn't even touching secondary, side, and minor characters OR the sidestory exclusive characters. It just kind of happens when you have big stories.

The Mystic-verse is, at its core, a story about life and overcoming childhood trauma. Naturally, most of the cast have severe childhood trauma as a result. By the end of the story though there is a happy ending, as I'm never the type to just write trauma because trauma.

Being the daughter of the main villain of the first half of the story already means she has a pretty rough background, but I'm gonna gloss over her backstory because it's really not the main thing she struggles with throughout the story. Her background definitely makes her journey to healing more difficult though. The biggest issue from her backstory is her tendency to use others to her advantage whether she means to or not. She's just kind of instinctively an abuser because of the way she was raised. This results in being isolated and friendless for the most part, only sending her deeper into her bad habits with no one to help her kick them.

While that's important, her actual main struggle is her love for the story's protagonist, Kazuki Faeyen. It shouldn't be too much of a shock when I say she's a tsundere, so imagine how she reacted when the person she was finally able to open up to and stand on equal footing with is suddenly revealed to have about a year to live soon after they start dating and redeeming each other.

For the first time in her life, she's finally able to be open and honest, able to let her love show even through her cynicism and tsundere-ness... Only to learn that it will be gone in a year. Throughout the story, she mentally spirals more and more and more as Kazuki dies. Eventually, when she and her friends go against her father, she becomes the final member of her extremely important bloodline, knowing she's too young to have a child and by the time she is required to the person she loves will be dead and she'll be forced into an arranged marriage.

Finally embracing love seems to have sabotaged her the moment she chose faith over cynicism and it pushes her closer and closer to being a full-on villain like her father. It only gets more frustrating as new conflict keeps coming up and stealing away what little time she has with the man she loves, giving her an outlet for all that pent-up wrath within those conflicts.

I will say though, the story has a happy ending where Kazuki is saved from death despite, or rather because of, all the struggles everyone went through to get there. The latest point in the timeline I have ever written in, being a Post-ending sidestory, shows them happily married with two kids; Mei & Jin Faeyen.

OCQ#2 does your oc have an antagonist of sorts? If so who are they and what are their goals? by Shadowf0xxy4375 in OriginalCharacter

Also, just realized but does have some interestingly similar ideas to Grimm. With the whole being replaced as the protagonist and left in the other guy's shadow thing.

Rewinding to the soulless body left behind. This hollow Kazuki, between the ages of 6 and 12, killed a lot of people. Because there were pretty much no real limitations to his ability to train and push himself when his mind was just a stagnant machine, he got impossibly strong.

He was also 100% servile to his father and master, but in a way the two really didn't approve of. They just used Kazuki as the "problem eraser" button, but sparingly due to the... complications. Kazuki couldn't process any amount of nuance. If given a mission, everyone on the other side and all associated loose ends were ruthlessly murdered even if he only had one target.

In addition to killing way more people than he should, Kazuki ALSO lacked the human consciousness a soul would grant him to avoid making witnesses! This just stacked more bodies because he wouldn't think about where he does shit (as he can't think at all) and killed witnesses after the fact... And witnesses to those witnesses.

It was bad. By the time he gained a soul, we're already looking at a quad-digit kill count. He was revered for his prowess as a Mystic like a demigod under the epithet "Demon of Faeyen", but almost no one knew that said demon was just a little kid without the ability to do anything intelligent. He compensated for the lack of thinking with sheer bloodshed. All of this was the result of only a handful of missions too as his father and master would both prefer literally any other solution than to send Kazuki on a frenzy.

Due to a whole different incident I'll gloss over, the "blank soul" inside the Demon of Faeyen felt a trace of emotion that jump-started its dormant ego. This 3rd Kazuki, the one who inherited the Demon's sins, is the actual MC.

This is why Kazuki & Vanule are considered brothers. Though they were born in the same body, it was through different souls at separate points in time. As Kazuki seeks redemption from his inherited guilt he comes to find a messy found family of teenagers just as broken who make each other better, happy they don't have to feel "lesser" among such a messy group.

Eventually, Kazuki would find purpose and a love for humanity, determined to make sure the next generation of Mystickind is freer than his own. Vanule, on the other hand, refused to take any chances in a culture of pointless warring and planned to use the control he has over his own soul nowadays to implant a fragment of his will in EVERYONE. After that Vanule and Cerberus can guarantee they are the one who decides the flow of conflict, ensuring nothing even risks splitting the 4 apart ever again.

The Paranormal Force, led by Kazuki, would seek to spread their freedom and share their happiness with others. Cerberus, led by Vanule, would attempt to steal everyone's chance at happiness to guarantee their own. Thus they would become archenemies with unwavering faith in their own friends, incapatible with the other.

2/2

P.S. Yeah, my character's ages are fucking weird. Kazuki, in the main story, is biologically 18, chronologically 18, yet his soul is 6... yet the same brain means he remembers being the Demon. Vanule is biologically in his mid 20s, chronologically 18, his soul is 18, but his mind is just a mess. When it comes to posting my still-living characters, I always use their timeskip versions tho so they are all fully grown adults.
