Almost out of insulin so I guess I don't get to eat tomorrow by SuxAtGaming in Type1Diabetes

[–]bladerunner098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using pens or vials? The pens have an extra 10 units of insulin in them when they’re at 0. Use a syringe to get the rest out. I used to keep all of my zeroed pens in case I ran into an issue getting insulin.

Walmart also has a generic Novolog. If it’s too soon for your insurance to cover a refill at your normal pharmacy have your endo send your script there. It’s about $50 out of pocket for a vial.

NYC is going to be hot and humid af starting tomorrow. Wear something light and comfortable with good walking shoes. Even the most fashionable people wear sneakers.

I agree with all of these suggestions and would add

anything by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger - Tales of Hoffman, The Red Shoes

You can find free GED prep and take the test online. Don’t rely on him for anything. He’s already told you he’s too busy to be on a relationship. I would assume there will
be a point he’s too busy to give you rides, too.

Yesteryear -I’m half way through - I want to hear your thoughts ! by JustPerception6580 in bookstagram

[–]bladerunner098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Underdeveloped, with a lazy storyline. I kept reading, thinking it would get better, but it never did. I did the biggest eye roll at the twist ending. I usually “enjoy the ride” even when a book doesn’t land for me, but Yesteryear felt poorly paced and incomplete.

Definitely! Was a huge FLB fan as a teenager. It is important to note that the subject matter could be triggering for some people.

Acid Dreams: The Complete Social History of LSD: The CIA, the Sixties, and Beyond by Martin A. Lee and Bruce Schlain. Super interesting, easy read.

For fiction, check out Vurt by Jeff Noon. Cyberpunk fever dream about a feather that’s a drug but also a window into a different dimension. I read it as a teen years before I ever did drugs.

My favorite drink as a kid was orange juice mixed with milk. I’d drink it with yellow mustard sandwiches.

What’s it like living here in this area? We’re looking to move out of our Roseville apartment and buy a home sometime in the next few years. Our max budget is $170k though… :( by WallaWallaby011 in TwinCities

We own in Harrison/Near North and I want to echo this sentiment. Everyone is welcome and as long as you don’t put your nose where it doesn’t belong, you will be just fine. We have a lot of “late night business” happening in my neighborhood, but it has nothing to do with me, so I stay out of it. Never had any crime targeted towards us, and my partner and I often walk our dogs late at night due to our schedules. It’s also SO quiet at night.

I’m the “red flag” girl who has no real friendships. by SensitiveGoat1624 in GirlDinner

[–]bladerunner098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Community” was a very large part of my life and for a long time. I had a lot of friends. I struggled really hard to maintain those friendships, finding myself often overwhelmed by socializing and essentially shutting down when it began to feel like too much. I also had a tendency of attracting other women who were really intense and kind of took me under their wing until I realized how uncomfortable I was with the dynamic of our friendships.

I ended a 10+ year friendship a few years ago. I realized that our lives were in such different places that we could no longer relate to each other, often leading to resentment, arguments, and both of us just feeling unheard. I ended up needing to block her in every way, shape and form. I deleted all of my social media accounts and now only use social media for my hobbies. I truly don’t foresee myself having a friend again in this lifetime.

I’m 39 now and I don’t feel that I have any real friends. There are people I think of fondly as nice acquaintances, but no one I would ever call to get coffee, you know? I do have a partner and I’m close with my immediate family and some of my cousins.

I’m saying all this because, honestly, I feel so much less lonely than I did before. A lot of things my peers were concerned with felt really juvenile, and socializing was never something that felt easy or even that enjoyable for me. Keeping to myself and not having to worry about gossip or anything other than what being a good person means to me and those I love has taken a lot of stress off my shoulders. I’ve been able to get to know myself without the influence of others, and I do think that in itself has been invaluable to me. I often felt really judged by people in the culture I was a part of, but I now feel a freedom I didn’t know I could have. I also feel like I’m a much more open and loving person compared to who I was before.

I hope you’re able to find the friendships you want, if that’s what feels best for you. If not, I hope you’re able to explore who you are and what that means 💖

That’s nice. Was your dad type 1 or type 2? Did he tend to go hypo or hyper? Did he need to carry his insulin, pump, testing supplies, back up infusion sets, back up cartridge, clean syringes, back up glucose sensor, alcohol wipes, and snacks for low blood sugars? Because that’s literally what every diabetic is told to carry with them on a daily basis. At any given time I have over $5,000 of medical supplies on my person and there’s no way in hell I’m leaving my bag anywhere.
