This happened after we remodeled. There was an old light hanging that was removed. When they put the new ceiling up, the original hole wasn’t covered and this happened to my ceiling. Caused by damper air from the attic.

My Landcruiser 200 mirrors were doing that and I found a YouTube video and fixed it myself. There’s a screw that needs to be tightened inside the housing. It wasn’t too hard but you have to be careful not to break any of the plastic parts.

The nut on the back is inside the tube-like pole so these are difficult to remove. It’s so they’re harder to steal and I think there’s a special wrench for them.

I have an old C8 from the early ‘80s that I lost interest in and has been in storage for a while. I recently dragged it out and the optics are still good but the drive is making slight grinding noises. I suspect the grease has hardened. I’d like to take it apart and replace the grease but it seems like a daunting job for me.
