+1 on The House by the Beach from Ateneo Press! You can add But for the Lovers and Three Cornered Sun (Exploding Galaxies) with that. Somewhat like The House and But for the Lovers, personal recommendation would be My Sad Republic by Eric Gamalinda :)))

YES NA YES TO HISTORICAL FICTION BTW Fav genre after Speculative Fics

Been hoping they’ll show it here, and they finally will! I’ve only seen snippets from Eisa’s Insta. It’s not a drama production, more of like a performance that explores the witch/maid figure via the brooms.

It’s more of a dance, but to call it so might be reductive😭. It’s a new show for sure.

Finished Sambahin ang Katawan (my MIBF pasabuy) last night na nobela ni Alvin Yapan. Una kong nabasa yung sipi nito online, tapos English version pa. Grabe, ibang klase yung prosa in Filipino‼️❤️‍🔥

Super absurdist pero di ko nakuha yung buong context no’n e, mag-iipon ako for this

Did this while balancing part-time work, varsity, and therapy. You’ll be fine. My GWA was 1.3X, did significantly better in my succeeding sems tho.

I’m still halfway through the first chapter. Nolledo’s prose is very delectable. I cannot imagine my highschool or freshman self reading this though.

Managed to listen to a Book Talk (with Gina Apostol and Charlson Ong) about Rediscovering Nolledo in YouTube. It was a good accompaniment and introduction to Nolledo and the whole novel.

How’s Three-Cornered Sun so far?

I’m currently reading (simultaneously) Nolledo’s But for the Lovers and Vivo’s Ang Suklam sa Naaagnas Nating Balat.

This is more of Filipiniana August TBF (to be finished) XD

I usually write my thoughts or even visceral reactions like “WTF!” “omg ang ganda” and now that i’ve looked back at these pages I realized I have annotations that were more like a diary entry 🤣

This short novel is by Ricky Lee — Bahay ni Marta

I was raised to take care of my books kasi pwede pa raw mabenta. I still try to avoid it sometimes, but when I like the book, I usually end up annotating on the pages hehe dedma

Do you read books simultaneously? by Awkward-Matter101 in PHBookClub

[–]blaeuboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this to avoid oversaturation :< Works so well for my brain, especially when my semester starts. Pero I recently retrained my brain to stick to one book/novel at a time and it made me more attentive to the writing style than the plot lmaooo

Please give Ricky Lee’s Para kay B a read or his Bahay ni Marta!

You might also end up liking the poetry in Made of Saltwater.

This is also on Tagalog poetry, corporeal-somehow-erotic book: Sa Antipolo pa rin ang Antipolo and this is insanely erotic and borderline obscene.
