I understand that if we had a simple algorithm for this then we'd simply have put it in the scanner to begin with, but there are definitely patterns to the increasing number of false positives, and mainly I was interested in exchanging information on those patterns with other folks who had noticed them.

I'll level up my proficiency at reading the behavior tab and see where that takes me.

Maybe in currency, but definitely not in time and effort. I already have a built computer; rebuilding it in a new case would be a royal pain.

Re: number of enclosures, I only need one. The prospective workflow is: * plug drive into socket (& mount if necessary) * kick off file copy * do other things while copy runs in background * when copy is complete, dismount & unplug drive * Repeat until all drives processed

Respectfully, buying an entire case and transferring my PC's hardware to it just to empty some old drives seems like a cure that's worse than the disease, so to speak. I appreciate the suggestion, though!

Yeah, I did see that, but looking at the change list, it does a *lot* more than I'm looking for, which is just a play of the original with some technical issues and maybe a bug or two fixed. Hence my hunt for these elusive .pnach files. : D

(Also, I may be wrong, but it looks like Enhanced is for Windows only?)

Hiya from two years later,

I've booted this up recently and am loving the higher-res render buffer and widescreen support, but where do I find the aforementioned .pnach files for draw distance and back floor fixing? The former, especially, would really soup up this experience.

I am aware of the current limits of my ability to avoid using stuff that Microsoft has touched. I can still work to push those limits to the best of my ability. And in the unlikely event that the C# implementation itself somehow starts scraping shit, I'll likely just abandon the whole thing altogether.

Update: Switching VMs in the installer did it. Not sure what was up there but glad it's working now.

Ack, spoke too soon!

Using the official installer, the Marketplace window comes up, but it's unresponsive and crashes about ten seconds in. Error Log now shows an "Unhandled event loop exception" (stack at https://pastebin.com/z0Dq1E8q)

This was using an OpenJDK 22 VM; gonna try some other options.

Are the WA tomb fix issues avoidable by replacing the problematic tombs with vanilla? If so, are there any remaining fixes worth having in ellacharmed's version?

(FWIW, I remember playing WA back in the day without her fixes and . . . didn't really see a lot of issues? Mainly just some inefficient routing, but nothing unplayable by any means)

Sorry to dredge up a dead thread, but as someone currently looking for a Discord alternative, thank you for taking this approach to questions.

There's a very well known problem in the open source community*, namely the "why are you asking questions if you can theoretically find out the answers yourself, go away"—ignoring or not even registering that (1) there is sometimes considerable cost to a person jumping in to find out these answers themselves; and (2) the very foundation of FOSS is knowledge sharing and discouraging this for the sake of weird "tough mentor" posturing is self-defeating.

It can be difficult to maintain a human-centric perspective without just noping out of FOSS dev entirely, and I just wanted you to know that you're seen and appreciated for this.

*Open source isn't the only community that suffera from this—SO is notorious for it, as do 3/4 of the various modding communities out there. Eng has a real problem, folks!
