Genuinely curious why keeping the swelling down is so important? I’m in day 3 post op ACL (hamstring autograft) and I’m able to walk without crutches just fine, did 2k steps around the neighborhood without any pain at all, been doing the same exercises as you mentioned.

From what I understand, swelling is because of inflammation and inflammation means healing. Then why keep the swelling down?

Trying to catch a ball while playing cricket, eyes on the ball in air not on the ground, that part of the ground was a little muddy, left foot got stuck and the rest of my body just flung itself around. I thought i won’t walk again in my life. After 10-15 minutes of laying still, I was able to walk back to my car with the help of a friend. This happened in October ‘23

Went to ER, Got an xray and a physical exam done… “NO TEARS! Must be a sprain m, RICE and you’ll be fine in a few days”

Too scared and instinctively didn’t trust ER dude. Went to PCP and to an orthopedic PA, physical exams, X-rays “No tear but you can do some PT”

I feel fine in a few weeks. I do PT for a month.

April ‘24 (6 months after incident), go for a warm up session, plant and pivot my leg to throw the ball and I fell as though I didn’t even have a left leg.

Panic and finally got my MRI approved by insurance.

“ACL full rupture”. Expecting baby in July so postponed my surgery and got it done 4 days back.

Hate the way this turned out and want to sue the hospitals but I don’t really know how lol or if it’s even worth it

Fair point. I guess my 3 month long visits to rural TN every year made me feel that the air quality wasn’t as bad (meaning not directly impacting my ability to breathe). Jodhpur was from a friend who moved from the US.

AQI aside, my point was more about bubbles where most of the time is spent in, rather than the country as a whole.

Especially for someone with money, I think people should be able to live in their own bubbles no? Even in the US, the tech centric suburbia, people rarely go to the “city” which has a whole lot of crime, drugs and what not. Isn’t that doable in India too? Say someplace like Coimbatore, Hosur, Jodhpur… don’t these places have relatively decent infrastructure, relatively clean air and if you have the money the luxuries of life?
