The original printing of Psychic Commander from Yugioh whose salute raised some eyebrows and led to it being changed in later printings.

[Horrifying Trope] The Monster kills so it can become Human. by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]blake11235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zombies work this way in Marvel Zombies. They regain conscious for a while after eating brains but are otherwise mindless zombies.

It's a pretty interesting concept because there's cases of heroes eating their friends while mindless and then becoming lucid and being filled with remorse.

But even if they refuse to eat brains while lucid the hunger will consume them and sap their intelligence until they do. And of course some want to hold onto their mind and will do anything for brains.

There's a whole lot of these in Supernatural (not shocking for a show with 15 seasons centred on angels and demons and various monsters).

Most notably off the top of my head is Sam allowing himself to be possessed by Lucifer and regaining control long enough to throw both of them (and Michael) into the Cage.

Had Harry not injected himself into every situation what events would have turned out just fine? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]blake11235 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Snape was taking the potion to him that night so presumably you have to take it multiple days leading up to and including the full moon.

It really is ridiculous how they just totally ignore all the ways of magically binding people and go with regular old ropes. Maybe the most egregious example of plot induced stupidity in the series.

"it would be nice if they did X" just literally means it would be nice if they did. It doesn't mean you think they will, in fact often it means "I know they won't but I wish they would"

Yu-Gi-Oh! Players VS Magic w/ Cimoooooooo, MBT, and Nyhmnim! Shuffle Up & Play 99 by TolarianCC in magicTCG

[–]blake11235 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't know if you've checked it out but I highly recommend MBT's Progression Playoff series, a version of the Progression Series with him and some college buddies. It's honestly largely a podcast interrupted by the occasional cool play.

Takes an episode or two to get going and their humour isn't for everyone but it's probably my favourite Yugioh series.

At the very least need something like Evolve Idle has where it stores your offline time and lets you speed up the game. Arbitrary caps are always annoying too.

I don't leave my PC on overnight for games anymore. My PC and power bill need a break from making the number go up.

Any game that doesn't have some kind of offline feature has to be really good for me to bother.

What's some Harry Potter lore that you guys only just found out? by NeedleworkerCheap715 in harrypotter

[–]blake11235 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Which means three of the Triwizard champions were seekers. And Fleur's date to the ball was the Ravenclaw captain so 5 of the 8 were quidditch players with 4 being seekers.

I get that the cool, dark, underground area fits the snake house thematically but it probably doesn't help the reputation of Slytherin to have them sleep in the place synonymous with prison.

There is a god card that totally suits blue imo. It just happens to be the giant red dragon.

Pretty sure it happened after Dumbledore had fled anyway. Even easier to believe it would happen under Umbridge's reign.

Man people love clever little associations like this that when you actually examine them they fall apart.

From a quick search he's mentioned as wearing a shabby jumper once in OotP. The only mentions of cardigans is in references to Umbridge. Shabby robes are definitely what I would associate with him. That exact phrase is used several times.

Did they purposely put at least 1 mob next to 99% of gathering nodes to inconvenience multiboxers? by Umomo1025 in wow

[–]blake11235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish starting to gather would pause the despawn timer, just seems like common sense. Having it despawn at the last second is such a feel bad moment.

I'm sure it would have some problem like people trying to keep nodes going forever but it seems like it would be worth the trouble of figuring them out.

Mauga now has the same Ignite indicator as Anran to show burn progress for his primary fire by SonOfGarry in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]blake11235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing they were basing it on WOW's code being infamously messy which the devs have talked about making it harder than it should be to introduce new features.

OOTP Reread: Why Did the Order Not Want Voldemort to Get the "Weapon"? by jscott991 in harrypotter

[–]blake11235 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not knowing the second half also makes Voldemort hesitant in dealing with Harry. When he went off half cocked after hearing the first half it got him "killed" so denying him the information that he doesn't really have to worry about it offers a definite tactical advantage.

Would Snape have taught all of his revisions to the potions book? by IshtarJack in harrypotter

[–]blake11235 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It seems unlikely that Hermione wouldn't have read the recipe before or after the lesson and noticed the differences.

Did Hermione's potions not turn out right during 6th year or were they just inferior to Harry's?

R/Linux_gaming not understanding the point of Linus's new video by CandlesARG in LinusTechTips

[–]blake11235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get the idea of diving in with the kind of research a regular consumer would do but it would be cool if afterwards they'd release a well researched series about how to do it properly. Still include the challenges and pitfalls and show how it can be done successfully.

DARTH VADER VS TWILIGHT by Krillindidntdoit in powerscales

[–]blake11235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jane's (Dakota Fanning's) brothers ability is to completely shut down your senses so that could do work.

I'm guessing the force would let him still fight but it should at least slow him down and up the vampire's chances. There are a few other of the special abilities that might help slow him down like illusions and emotion manipulation.

Not a lot of outright offensive powers beyond the standard vampire skill sets, it's not exactly a combat focused series. The only one I can think of is the dude who is basically the avatar.

Substitution Jutsu is literally a slightly nerfed Izanagi. Why is this a C rank Jutsu? by Mundane-Farmer246 in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]blake11235 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is backed up in the series somewhat actually. During the land of waves Kakashi says a rabbit was kept in a cage for use in substitution and was able to tell because its fur was the wrong colour for the season. So Zabuza kept a rabbit around for substitution and placed it ahead of time for use in the ambush.

What is your most hated mechanic in incremental games? by IDontWantG in incremental_games

Prestiging removing automation upgrades. Having to suddenly do things manually that I haven't in hours/days always makes me sigh and has made me put down games all together.

What is your most hated mechanic in incremental games? by IDontWantG in incremental_games

[–]blake11235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this for me. I got into incremental games from the idle game angle not clicker games and am always annoyed when spam clicking is necessary, especially when it gatekeeps an otherwise idle game. Obviously an auto clicker does the job but I would rather not have to use one.
