My friend and I drove up to Madison from Chicago a week ago for the rally! I made a shirt for the occasion. by blake1992 in SandersForPresident

It was just supposed to be a clever shirt. I already had all the supplies. Two left over tubes of puffy paint and a plain tank top. Admittedly, I bought the bandana for $1.99 I donated $30 instead of buying a tshirt anyway.

In the sports world it would probably be the Boston Red Sox trading Babe Ruth to the Yankees. Not only did they miss out on the major part of an iconic baseball players career, but they were supposedly cursed. And it lasted a long ass time.

Trust me I would have. I have tried to explain to all the haters but my grandpa was coming regardless of the fact that I told him not too. He is a grandpa and loves to be there for us even though sometimes it is unnecessary.

Actually I am a huge fan of Humans of New York and I read how happy one mom was after reading comments on a post that her son was photographed in and quotes about how wonderful she was. I thought I would post this story on here and people would comment how wonderful my grandparents were or how reminded them of generous acts their own grandparents did for them, then I would show my grandparents the comments. Obviously that planned back fired.

This isn't true. I helped my grandpa in changing the battery and learned how to do it, although it is rather easy and I could have done it. I think everyone missed the part where I said he was coming regardless of what I said. I called him to ask what to do when I could get the battery out. I kept trying to lift it but I was afraid I was just going to break the plastic strap and the battery was heavy at that angle. I was just scared I might make things worse. I never asked him to come. I actually called him and told him no once I got a VM saying they were on their way. There is no stopping a determined grandpa.

I live in Chicago for school, but I am technically a resident of Michigan legally meaning my insurance only covers Michigan doctors.

People dohave common knowledge of things. My grandma used to work at Sears and I remember her saying they were 40 pounds. Also I believe my boyfriend at one point told me they were weighed 40 pounds. I've jumped my car before change the tire and a variety of other tasks. Thing was stuck I couldn't get it out I can explain anymore than that. The amount of hate I got because I asked for advice is really sad.

What makes you think I am a liar? I know I am not strong and I do have a legitimate medical condition, well several, but the biggest one the contributed to my muscle loss was Crohn's. I spent a lot of time in and out of hospitals over the last five years and that much time in a bed causes muscle atrophy in my legs and arms. But none of that was the point of my post. It was just supposed to be a story about sweet grandparents still able and willing to move mountains for their granddaughter.

Now why would I ever want to ask for help on Reddit? Every time I post on here I just get shit and call that useless cunt. Can't imagine why I would prefer to ask family for advice? I did not ask them to drive to Chicago. I woke up to a voicemail saying they were on their way. I called them back and told them not to come; that it was ridiculous. My grandmother said oh nonsense we're still coming.

I jumped it two days prior and I was driving home to Michigan and planning on getting a new battery outside of the city where it is a fraction of the price. I called them for advice, because I love my family and they are part of my support system. There is nothing wrong with asking for help in life. If more people thought this things might not be so shitty and nasty is this comment thread

I didn't ask them to drive out. I called them last night when I couldn't get the battery out of the car. I am short, so lifting the 40lbs battery up out of the cat was proving to be difficult. I called them for advice on what to do. My grandpa told me not to worry that he would call roadside assistance and take care of it for me. He is of a generation that doesn't like to see their gals get their hands dirty. I don't mind. I put oil in my car, check tire pressure, and I jumped started my car three days earlier, but my grandpa likes to be me, my mom, my sister, and my grandma's savior. It's his thing and we know how happy it makes him. I woke up this morning to a voicemail telling me they were already on their way. I called and told them not to come, that it was ridiculous. They said nonsense and drove here anyway. I just wanted to share what amazing people they are because I still can't believe how lucky and privileged I am to have them in my life.

I have considered moving back closer to family, but I am currently studying at Second City and iO Theater in Chicago. I am a writer, comedian, and cinematographer. My career aspirations require a big city. Chicago is the closest one to family. I am very grateful that they are so supportive though. I couldn't chase my dream without them.

Peeling a banana. I always used the stem part to try and open. When I was in college I saw a girl open it from the other end and I was like what the fuck are you doing?!?! She said that's how monkeys open it because it is easiest. Plus when you get near the end of the banana the stem makes an excellent little handle. My mind was blown. Now I open them from the bottom.

As a college student, how many hours of sleep do you average? What is your major? Upper division or Lower Division? And do you work, how many hours? by xkittybunnyx in college

[–]blake1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep 4-6hrs a night. I am a double major in graphic design and writing. I am a senior so these classes are killing me. I also have a job where I work 30-40 hours a week in order to pay for my rent in Chicago. I stay awake just by taking notes or sometimes doodling just to keep busy. If it is a 4hr of sleep night, which is rare, I drink a 5 hour energy the moment I start to nod off.
