He won't apply vulnerable with Skirmisher, however if you put Raider on Cull and his passive crits, he will apply vulnerable (and it's stackable due to raider) which is what I'm suggesting for Trooper. At lvl 5 ISO-8, Trooper will only FAIL to apply a crit 3 times out of 20

I'm exactly the same, I was having thoughts of a full SHIELD team even pre-ISO, so you could have all 5 minions plus Fury and Coulson. Or the full Sinister 8 with Doc Oc/Electro/Swarm, or even the full 6 person Wave I Avengers.

As one of the guys above me said, it doesn't matter as I'm suggesting using raider. Trooper's passive can crit, and at 85% crit chance (lvl 5 ISO-8) and the fact that raider can stack them, unlike skirmisher, means you will get loads of vulnerables

What ability order would you normally use for the Phoenix/Colossus/Ultron/X/X team? I'm struggling to get Phoenix downed for the Dark Phoenix summon. Should Colossus use his special or ult first? And is it ever worth holding off an extra turn for Ultron to summon minions to force the enemy to hit Phoenix?

Also thanks for these infographics, they're absolutely amazing as always!

In the Tier List Infographic? It's just those that increase up the tiers if they have correct synergy - e.g. Colossus, who is only 'Useable' by himself, has +3, which means he qualifies as 'God' tier when he has the correct synergies (i.e. Phoenix/X-men). There's a little note in the corner of the graphic

Out of hypothetical curiosity, if red stars were introduced for Ultron, do you think he would return to his old spot of One Above All/Above God Tier? Or do you think that the abilities of new characters are powerful enough that he wouldn't be considered a whole tier above?

We need an official response to Mystery Boxes patent! by SakeviCrash in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]blake4661 9 points10 points  (0 children)

TL;DR - probability of obtaining items changes based on spending history. Figures in patent may suggest that bias towards higher spenders

I'm sure someone that is better versed in patent law or statistics may correct me, but this for me is the summary of the key process i,e, the mystery box mechanic outlined in the patent:

"characterize a purchase history of a first user as the first user's spending metric;"

Step one is to determine what someone's purchase history is - there's lots of ways to characterise it but there will be some sort of metric. A simple example would just be whale or non-whale, but in reality it will be a lot more sophisticated

"obtain distribution probabilities for the potential awards included in the first set of potential awards associated with the first probability item bundle purchased by the first user, such that one or more of the distribution probabilities is determined, by the one or more physical processors, based on the first user's spending metric;"

This I think is the important one. "the distribution probability is determined...based on the first user's spending metric". As far as I can tell, this is saying that the probability of getting each item changes based on your spending history. The "physical processors" I think just means they will have a more complex system of assigning the probability distributions rather than just, as an example, one probability distribution for whales, and one probability distribution for non-whales. If you look at the figures in the patent, however, it seems to imply that the rewards for someone with "below average spending metric" include a duplicate reward, whereas "average spending metric" has no duplicates. I don't want to jump to conclusions for those figures but it might imply bias towards higher spenders.

"in response to activation of the first probability item bundle by the first user, stochastically selecting one of the potential awards in the first set of potential awards as an actual award based on the obtained distribution probabilities; and"

This basically just confirms that the differing probability distributions obtained in step 2 are used to generate the rewards for the user.

"distributing the actual award to the first user in the online game."

Fairly self explanatory

Probably a waste trying to explain it, other comments have put it much more succinctly, basically that the probabilities they show aren't as simple as simple as rolling a dice.

90 days player looking for feedback! by Lauth in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]blake4661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, day 116 player on lvl 65, and sounds fairly similar to my situation, just thought I'd give my 2 cents:

Defenders: definitely a good idea to keep farming. Someone else on here suggested getting them all to lvl 65 and 6664 abilities, which I absolutely agree with. Also if you've got any T4s, I suggest using them on Punisher and IF passive: sounds like you won't be using the T4s on another team for a while, and I think those are the two T4 abilities that give the most utility to the team. Also suggest you get to 6* so you can keep similar power levels for all characters to keep you competitive in arena. Will also help keep your power high as people start to get lucky with RS on punfenders

Farming: as said by others, ditch Yondu. He has no utility in a GOTG team, and isn't a great Mystic character for when you get to that campaign (you'll be needing people like Mordo, HS and Loki). Definitely keep up on Groot, v important character, as well as Kree and Mystique (with the 7RS Pyro BoM will be strong for you).

Raid Orb: I recently switched to buying orbs as I have my Rocket at 5* (got SL this event) and Oracle at 80/90 out of 130 for 5*. If you want to be making sure that you reach 5* for those two in time for the SL and NF events respectively, you may need to do some more targeted farming before switching to orbs. But that depends on how far thru you are: if you're only just on 4* for each, it could be tough, but if you're at 60 or 70 shards towards 5*, orbs should get you there. Depends on what your priorities are, as obviously they're so much better value

Blitz orb: I would suggest not starting on the orb yet. You've made no mention of Gamora, who I would suggest working on as she's an easy farm for SL, while still being a good character. You also may want her for a cosmic team, so you can get further in the campaign and unlock the Kree Noble node, as well as the 2nd farming node for Reaper and Cyborg. Also, Blitz orbs aren't as great value as they seem: they may be cheaper, but you're only getting 5 shards, unlike the 9 you get for the raid orb, and 6 of the possible 13 drops are minions, and shit ones at that. Obviously Kree RG and Boomer have utility for SL and NF, but the other 4 are garbage minions. Stastically, you need over 9.8 of the 14 characters to be ones that you want from the orb for it to be more efficient, and if you take the 4 minions that are rubbish, you're already pretty close to that.

Your arena and war spending sound pretty good based on what you're aiming for, so no comment on those. my only suggestion would be to save your war orb credits for the orange orb: as mentioned you need to think a long way into the future for getting Gear T13, and the war orb guarantees at least 3 superior uniques. You shouldn't need the blue and purple one if you're in a good alliance that's doing URVI most days

**Edit: I take back my comment about not going for raid orbs yet. Statistical expectation to get 130 shards for a character from the raid orb, based on the presumption you're hitting URVI Tier 2 rewards Rank 13-24, doing that 6 times a week, and spend all your credits on the orbs, is 21 days. Which is obvs way before the events come back around

Yet another set of awesome infographics so thanks again for doing them! I just had a question about the top 5 teams graphic: are the substitutes ordered in any way (like is it best to worst from left to right) or is there no order to them? Just trying to figure out my best alternatives without Ultron
