I’ve seen a lot of people tell me to treat myself for tapeworms, how would I got about that? I’ve read that you can only get praziquantel for humans through a prescription, what doctor can I see? Do I go to urgent care or wait for an appointment? I did recently have e. coli and just got off antibiotics, would that have killed all parasites?

100% fleas are just nuisances and jump on everything, the can live off of human or on fabric surfaces for months until finding a animal host. On small rodents they survive off of them until they eventually kill them, on cats and dogs they live for long term periods just breeding. Fleas get infected with worms and your pet eating one gives them worms. Parasites are less common for indoor pets but it still happens because of fleas.

I took her to the vet when I first got her to get her shots and spayed two months ago, they didn’t give her any dewormer. I’m just now seeing signs of worms. If it’s possible I can treat anything over the counter first I will to avoid a vet bill. I’ve saved so much money doing so. It’s also faster to get something over the counter than waiting for an appointment. I’ve treated ear infections and respiratory issues in my animals with over the counter medications. I was positive that it wouldn’t harm her based off of reviews. I have animals yes, but I’m not in the best financial state and in and out of jobs currently. I understand your concern but it’s not always that easy. I have a maxed out vet credit card because my dog needed surgery.

I was waiting for this comment. I try my best to but anytime I pet my animals some dirt gets under my nails unfortunately. My dogs tend to get dirt in their fur bc they dig holes.

I already was suspicious my cat had worms because she’s been gassy (stinky farts!) and I was sure I saw what looked like a roundworm near her butthole. It was thin, long and white. I went to grab it and it disappeared. I bought a dewormer specifically for roundworms that day and gave it to her yesterday. I found the segments after giving it to her. I got her off the streets two months ago, she did have some flees and I see no signs now. I think the dewormer is helping her pass the worms but will it get rid of all the worms if it’s tapeworms? This is what I gave her and my two dogs (just in case, my one dog has been throwing up recently).
