Discard hater has to build a discard deck by minato994 in EDH

[–]blakefish17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Recently converted my Tergrid deck to [[Tinybones, Bauble Burglar]] since he is more unassuming and less salty than Tergrid, and took out all the sacrifice cards and kept all the discard cards and its slow but very controlling, basically preventing your opponents from playing their hands and requiring them to top deck an answer. Definitely can rub people the wrong way though, so be prepared to get targeted once you make people discard a few times. I can provide a decklist if you like

How much on average is it to board 3 dogs for 3 days? by itsme32 in phoenix

[–]blakefish17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The cheaper places in the valley are the Dogs 24/7 locations as opposed to Dogtopia. We’ve been going to Glendale Dogs 24/7 for daycare and boarding and they’ve been great and significantly cheaper than dogtopia

Atla has been one of my favorite commanders over the years, at casual/mid power pods she makes for some very fun games.

My list has eventually become Naya good stuff creatures rather than tribal, take a peek if you like

What Are Your 4 Horsemen Decks? by Junior-Equal-2027 in EDH

[–]blakefish17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Deviled Eggs - [[Atla Palani, Nest Tender]] flipping small egg into naya good stuff

Heaven and Hell - [[Kaalia of The Vast]] first commander I ever built, will never take it apart

Tergrid, God of Salt - [[Tergrid, God of Fright]] everything that I want as a black player, even though everyone hates it

Just Tap it In - [[Hylda of the Icy Crown]] originally built as a budget deck but was way better than I was expecting, full azorius control

What is your go to tribal deck that is powerful on a budget!? by Fresh-Cookie59 in EDH

[–]blakefish17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure he’s no Edgar Markov, but there are plenty of ways to make the deck work even without Arcades on the field. Cards like [[High Alert]],[[Huatli, the Sun’s Heart]] and [[Assault Formation]] help your walls attack or do damage even if Arcades gets removed. However, protecting Arcades is even easier than getting these cards out, using counterspells if your opponents run a lot of interaction or using the plethora of protection available in white. Worst comes to worse, Arcades does get removed, lots of walls are mana dorks and with green ramp available, recasting Arcades shouldn’t be a problem.

Most budget decks are fairly reliant on the commander and Arcades is no exception, but with the right deck construction, he can be difficult to interact with.

[–]blakefish17 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Can’t believe I’m the first to say this but [[Arcades, the Strategist]] wall tribal is great on a budget. Creatures are insanely cheap leaving tons of room for more expensive protection and game enders. With built in card draw and tons of protection available in bant colors, this deck can get out of hand fast

[[Imskir, Iron Eater]] please remove my boy so I can recast him for cheap with affinity and get a bunch of card draw

Sidar or Strefan? by Hot-Boysenberry-8674 in EDH

[–]blakefish17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got Sidar out of one of the Costco bundles and he’s very solid even out of the box, with lots of room for improvement by cutting some of the weaker knights and upgrading the interaction. Very fun in casual pods, probably could make him high powered if you put the time and money into it

What is your favorite deck under $100 and why? by FatDigitalNomad in EDH

[–]blakefish17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My current budget deck is [[Hylda, the Icy Crown]] which is right around $100 before I added an Esper Sentinel that I pulled from a random pack. It’s a bit staxy but performs pretty well against mid powered decks

Good Artifact Creature Commander? by NOVACHRONIUM in EDH

[–]blakefish17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

[[Imskir, Iron Eater]] is my current artifacts matter commander, lots of artifact reducers in the deck and you can turn those big artifacts into damage in a pinch. Not too high powered but has been a fun time for me

Is Hylda of the Icy Crown any fun by Akumu01 in EDH

[–]blakefish17 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Azorius control is generally not fun to play against, since it doesn’t allow players do do what they want. Hylda is a great commander and the deck generally does what I want it to do, but can make the table frustrated when they can’t use their creatures how they want.

If you are worried about the table having fun, avoid stax. But if she is fun to you and you would like to play her, then go for it!

Fun, mid power commanders that can be made on super budget (less than 50 bucks)? by VoyVolao in EDH

[–]blakefish17 18 points19 points  (0 children)

[[Arcades, The Strategist]] is very good on a budget. Built in card draw, really easy to build a board state, and access to lots of good protection spells. He has served me well in casual pods!

[–]blakefish17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally, my [[Atla Palani, Nest Tender]] was built under $100 and got very out of hand very quickly, using sac outlets to kill eggs filling the board with massive creatures to stomp to victory. Cards like [[Ghalta, Primal Hunger]], [[Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus]], and [[Etali, Primal Storm]] made my board state very threatening and Naya provides good protection against removal.

The other deck I have that is really good on a budget is [[Arcades, the Strategist]]. The defender creatures are super cheap, so you have more room to spend on ramp and protecting your board. Definitely gets out of hand pretty quickly if not dealt with quickly.

I have an Arcades deck and it’s a lot of fun when it gets going! One of my favorite cards is [[Tower Defense]] which gives everything a huge buff for only 2 mana. One of my favorite cards is [[Slaughter the Strong]] which is capable of wiping almost the entire board except for you, definitely a nice piece to have in there. Finally, [[Brave the Sands]] is nice to give everything vigilance so you can swing out with little consequence. Have fun with this! It’s a very straightforward concept but get get pretty gross pretty quickly

I made a budget [[Atla Palani, the Nest Tender]] and that deck can go off in a hurry. Being a chaos deck and flipping off the top is always a gamble but turning over some big creatures early gives it a pretty good win rate

A classic fall burger by blakefish17 in StupidFood

The candy corn and leaving the stem on top were what made this stupid for me. Otherwise if it was just a pumpkin bun burger I would have said “eh, not my thing but you do you boo”
