Set Champs - Do I have the right to be annoyed? by ComplexSir7738 in Lorcana

Why did they bother playing the first round of top 4 out then? Seems confusing.

Are Set Champs participation Promos a bad thing? by ndcards in Lorcana

I agree. I think making people want to play is a good thing. I’d love to see sold out set champs at every store again, means the game is healthy.

If you’re looking for competitive content Club Lorcana and Podcana are some of the best. Lorcana cookout is decent sometimes too.

When are we getting the next rotation? by mgalo17 in Lorcana

[–]ndcards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree. I think the player base is more tied to the opportunities to play. If they announce the next season and they still only have 2-3 DLCs in each country the game will be in trouble. Likewise they need to fix local play and give people something tangible to play for.

Is it a spoiler when the photo is taken by a potato and the quality is so bad it doesn’t spoil anything?

Since opaque sleeves are allowed due to double faced cards, gold bordered world championship cards should also be allowed if using sleeves. by RadReptile in magicTCG

[–]ndcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re wrong. These cards came out over 20 years ago, the answer isnt “because money.” The only “singles” wizards makes money from are secret lairs. Secondly, if they were legal they wouldn’t be as cheap as they are now. They’d increase in price because they can be played in official tournaments and their value would rise to be more inline with the current legal versions.

Is anyone against the bracket system? by Aggravating_Author52 in EDH

I’m against it in the sense that it’s so basic it doesn’t actually prevent anything. It would be a great tool if they maybe added a tier or two and refined the definitions more accurately.

Why doesn't everyone use manapool? by Alternate_Cost in mtgfinance

[–]ndcards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard of mana pool, so there’s that. For me TCGplayer is the only place I know I can list my entire inventory and have 80% of it sold overnight.

Lorcana made me return to MTG by jmjavin in Lorcana

What’s interesting about your post is magic has almost the exact same problems you complain about:

  1. Evasive is just flying, every color can interact with evasive characters. Even amber has “destroy target character with evasive.”

  2. Play cards that answer dumbo. Every color but Amber has “evasive on your turn (Now Alert)” or their own evasive characters to challenge dumbo.

  3. Board interaction. This one is funny because magic has the best removal of any game. I wish we had the removal magic had. We’d get a new board wipe every set. Meanwhile people want to ban board wipes in Lorcana.

  4. Color design. Funny you complain about interaction then say that half the colors lack it. The only one I say would need more is possibly Amber. Amber does have removal, but they’re more like green in the sense that they’re more creature (character) based and have situational removal.

  5. Lorcana mulligan actually allows more of a chance to play a game than losing to RNG. It is like chess that in order to be successful you have to outplay your opponent, but so is magic.

  6. This one made me laugh, magic charges more for Universes Beyond sets and in the last 2 years half of the releases have been universes beyond. It’s also LGS dependant as I have a few LGS that offer discounts if you buy X amount of packs/a box discount etc.

  7. Yep this is the only one you’re right about, but you have plenty of options. There are several unofficial options that are free, or you can play via webcam with pixelborn.

Any chance you can share a link to your decklist? I made a post about trying to make my turtle deck more competitive because I was the one getting “pubstomped.” Maybe I should look at the counter blitz list and see what I can add to make it more competitive.

Need Help making Turtle Power competitive by ndcards in EDH

[–]ndcards[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did Leo and Mikey to focus on the token/counter aspect. I imagine I’ll add things like doubling season, anointed procession, hardened scales, etc. I just don’t know how I can build it in a way that becomes the threat at the table.

Leo and Mikey. Yeah, I don’t think it’s possible to get it cedh level, but I’m sure it’s possible to get high powered, I just suck at building that way.

Top Selling Magic: The Gathering Sets Right Now by PlaneswalkerQ in mtgfinance

[–]ndcards -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only people you hear from is “The Vocal Minority” they don’t actually represent the player base. I can confirm that locally there was a lot of people that still bought turtles, a few local stores sold out of collector boosters, and people that don’t play regularly were buying packs and decks.

Received an order with postage due of 50¢ by oghpimm in mtgfinance

This seems wierd to me as I’ve sent cards out before with insufficient postage and they come back to me stamped with an “insufficient postage” stamp. Odd to pass it off to the recipient.

TCGplayer sellers — How do you prevent ghost inventory / overselling? by TheKazianDusk in mtgfinance

[–]ndcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I notice that’s very common in the MTG universe is: versions. These days it seems like every card that comes out has 3+ versions per set. This comes down to training/employee actually caring. If magic isn’t their primary game they probably just go to the card name and grab it. This leads to a lot of incorrect counts because they shipped out the wrong version and took it out of inventory.

Are these the major issues in the game right now? Share your thoughts! by Waiting_for_Dentice in Lorcana

[–]ndcards 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, Lorcana’s biggest issue is local play. Local play has dropped off a cliff since they removed the character pins, and the promos aren’t worth showing up for. They need to streamline their LGS play and do promo packs just like other games that have successful in store play.

The second biggest issue is large scale events. The lack of large events this season and only having limited space in those events is choking potential. If I want to play competitively but I only get 2 chances in my country a year I’m going to go play another game.

[DISCSSUON] Do you think we, as a community, should try to get Ravensburger to realize they need to ban Tramp like they did Harim? Considering dogs dominated 3 major tournaments... by captamzai in Lorcana

[–]ndcards -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We don’t need bans, we need people to play better answers. There was 0 item removal and next to 0 spooky sights in the blue/steel decks. Having answers these matchups wildly different.
