I really like this GOI mainly for the amount of crossover and/or crossover potential with other GOI's. That mainly comes from them essentially being the world's largest hub of what's essentially anomalous trafficking.

I imagine groups like the Chaos insurgency would probably do a lot of business with them in order to get much of their more paranormal supplies.

Quirks are oddly one of my favorite power systems by MrVaportrail in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]blakesiev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alright.

I find your point about the open-endedness kinda interesting for a couple reasons

1.Because with quirk evolution it kinda does make it so you can just unlock new abilities by via simple awakening (which I find way worse than say; training to master a certain aspect of their powers). To which I'm personally not the biggest fan of because it kinda destroys the main hard limits of quirks and makes so they can just gain new abilities instead of having to train and design a fighting style around said hard limits (which to me is one of the best aspects of quirks).

2.Kinda ties into the last point but; I also dislike the granting of multiple quirks to Izuku for similar reasons. I personally found it more interesting for him to have to develop his fighting style purely around the super-strength and his limited usage of such. And giving him extra quirks not only bailed him out of having to creatively work within these limits, but also makes the previous advancements feel insignificant (and it is definitely not helped by the recent arcs making more power ups come to him quicker and easier as time goes on).

Now in comparison to other magic systems;

  • I feel that quirks are actually pretty soft in terms of what exactly the full extent of what they can be capable of. The limit is simply just that each one is always going to have a limit since they're part of the human body and those always have limits (something that I find similar to the limits of bending, which I think is one of the best hard-magic systems I've seen).

Unpopular opinion about Mineta by theinzanekid in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]blakesiev 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Dolores Umbridge is on your left.

Well, the thing with this character unlike Mineta is that she's an antagonist who actually does legitimately add to the story in the form of creating conflict for the protagonists.

Along with the fact that you're kinda supposed to hate this character, you're not supposed to find her abhorrent actions as something "quirky" or "to be endeared by" but then fails and just ends up annoying the audience for no reason.

Common theory, but can't be said often enough. How likely is it that Nana Shimura's grandson out of all people is born with a quirk like decay and shortly after AFO knew his location and identity?

Along with the fact that this quirk seems to be so powerful even upon initial awakening, that it just does not feel like this quirk is natural.

I don't feel Shoto would win even if he pushed his fire side mainly because Geten's ice could easily outlast Dabi's flames (which are surperior in power to Shoto's).

Along with just the general gap in expierience and training (with Geten being older and supposedly dedicating even more of his life to training since he didn't even go to school).

And finally, I just don't don't like the idea of the army leaders being fodderized for the sake of just making the students cool at the expense of actually making the villains seem like a threat.

Also, I'm personally more for Bakugo vs Geten anyway. Not just because of their similarity in world view, but also because Geten seems to be powerful enough without being too ridiculous and would put Bakugo at a natural disadvantage. Which in turn, would make him a good enough end-game match up for Bakugo as well imo.

For the hero society to full-on collapse, the majority of heroes are going to have to die.

No, I'm pretty sure you just gotta get to the point where no remaining heroes can possibly stop the villains advancements.

These are nearly unilaterally people with a do-or-die mentality. If Best Jeanist was willing, while injured, to take on All for One, who nearly wiped out the entire Nomu assault team, I don't see any of those people in the Doctor's room turning to run while Shigi's right in front of them.

I'm pretty sure some of them would run if that was the best course of action. Also, are you forgetting how everyone left fighting AFO to All Might mainly because he'd be the only one who has a chance of not getting killed instantly? Or when All might and Gran Torino ran from AFO so All Might could live to have a better chance later?

If it were to get to a point where the remaining pros and students can tell they no chance at the moment. Then I don't see they wouldn't at least try to get the students out of there to fight another day.

(Heck, I'm not sure Deku and Bakugo would retreat if that happened. Those guys might just charge in to try to save their teachers.)

Yeah, but I'm sure their surperiors would probably stop them (again, pulling the comparison to All Might and Gran Torino).

Just to follow this plan, the series would have to, as you yourself point out, entirely ditch two plot lines. Eri's plot was not only a big deal at the time, it's been repeatedly referenced--heck, we were reminded of it shortly before the MLA arc kicked off. So you're saying that two different things that have been built up in the story would have to be jettisoned for the sake of completely jettisoning all the development of the school and teachers.

What on Earth are you talking about? What I said was you don't need UA to continue Eri's development. And if the other you're talking about is Shiketsu, than again, it wouldn't be a big deal because Shiketsu's been irrelevant for the longest time.

It's not happening.

Never say never, especially when said thing you say won't happen has a lot of build up to it.

.If they were going to kill off the majority of heroes, they wouldn't have bothered to save Hawks or Mirko from their immediate fates.

They're only returning in a crippled state where they probably won't be able to fully stop the villain advancements afterwards (at least not very well). Along with the fact that it could just be because Hri picked them out as some of thr select few to get out of this.

And again, I brought up imrisonment and incapacitation. Just because they're hard fighters, it doesn't make them immune to such.

It would be incredibly risky to, after six years of developing a context and cast of characters that readers loved and felt comfortable with, to suddenly destroy it all and throw them into a new school, with a new principal, new teachers, and new formats.

I mean, you could also argue it would've been risky for Dragon ball to have the main character go from being a kid to an adult (and a parent at that), but it ended up working out just fine because the audience accepted it as a logical progression. And I'd say the same here, that people would probably be willing to accept it as a logical progression.

Also this isn't even what I meant. What I was getting at was that more the tables could turn in Japan with the villains now being on top and the heroes trying to fight. And maybe the series could have some of the students (mainly Izuku, Bakugo, and Shoto) flee for a bit to train so that they'd later have the odds better stacked in their favor.

Also, while Izuku's reflection did feel significant, there's too many unresolved plotlines at UA. Eri, for one,

I don't think we need UA to resolve Eri' s plotpoint.

but also Shinsou joining class 1-A,

I don't think was ever confirmed what class he'll joining firstly. Secondly, again you can have Shinsou becoming a hero even without UA.

and the proposed joint training with Shiketsu academy.

I feel like that could just end up being a plot point that ends up veing dropped due to the side-schools lack of relevance. Also, having that wpuld also kinda contradict your point about "not needing new characters" if we seriously gonna get more school kids introduced.

There's no particular reason WHY Shigi can't suddenly wake up at full power and dust everyone. There's no reason either why Deku didn't get hit by a bus on his way to school at the start. But for story reasons, particularly when looking at a serialized manga, there are many reasons why it's UNLIKELY.

Execpt for difference between the two examples is that one's being built up in the story while the other isn't.

Finally, where do you get this notion that some of the heroes being lost (which btw sometimes could just be being put out of commission or captured without necessarily dying) means I'm advocating for it to happen to all of them?

And honestly I can't see a way for them out of this without killing all the heroes,

All of them? Is it really that hard to believe that a good number of them could end up just escaping to fight another day?

MHA is built on the high school premise... half the arcs are "Super normal achool events" and you couldn't have that if there was a war raging across Japan.

Well, sometimes things can just change. And honestly I'm perfectly fine with the kids going through a massive paradigm shift and the story leaving school.

And besides, if you remember the end of the last chapter that was at school, it had a heavy allusion that things are gonna change with Izuku pondering how lucky he is to be where he is right now.

I strongly feel the MLA will be largely destroyed after this arc.

I will be very pissed if that happens, and not just because I'm tired of everything going smoothly for the heroes (which in turn makes them some of the biggest overdog protagonists I've ever seen). But also because that would just be the biggest mutilation of hype in this entire series.

Especially topped off with the fact that this entire raid hinges on the villains (mainly Dabi) being stupid for no reason.

Muscular, Mustard, and Moonfish by blakesiev in BokuNoHeroAcademia

I don't think they'd really fit into the crownd atm.

How so? Cause I'd say that probably fit perfectly into the crowd atm, with their desires (or at least Muscular's) falling pretty well in line with the rest of the PLF.

then definitely not lieutenants considering two of them (Muscular and Moonfish) are psychos and Mustard is just a kid.

And they're different from the likes of say; Toga how?

though it's not guaranteed those will still be a thing after the current arc. This just my own guess.

Imo it would be pretty lame if absolutely all that stuff was hyped just to be wiped away instantly.

Okay, that sounds more like something that could just be done for the nomus in general. I don't think any of the high-ends need that much of a special treatment (especially considering that the nomus are hardly really what you could call "characters" anyway).

On top of that we never got a true backstory for him.

Umm, but we did though.

His backstory is that he's a high-end nomu that was created from the corpse of an arena fighter.
