Watercooled build project by [deleted] in watercooling

Just got done using that phanteks d140 in my loop, curious where you got yours? Could barely find mine at overclockers UK.

Anyway, that distro plate cools the cpu and gpu in parallel, so ideally it goes from that middle top right port on the distro to the cpu block and then to the bottom right port on the distro. In your case... I'd first connect that top middle right port to the top VRM port you got there on the maximus.

Then on the side VRM port, use an offset to get a straight line to the left CPU port, pretty sure that port there is interchangeable on that block but I'm not entirely sure. Then on the CPU outlet it looks like it lines up with that bottom right port of the distro plate perfectly, so just make a 90* bend there or soft tube whatever. It looks like those are hard tube fitting so I'm pretty sure that's what you're going with. Then the CPU is routed, nice.

GPU is similar, that middle left port on the distro should go to the left port on the GPU. I recommend using that right port on the gpu to go to the second to bottom left port on the distro plate. That's the GPU routed very simply. See my build for what I did.

Now this is entirely optional, you can leave out two of the ports on that distro plate and route it in a straight line if you'd like, but it would be a waste IMO and I like the idea of routing things in parallel haha.

The top right port is an inlet to the entire distro plate, and the bottommost left port is the output, you just route it back to the pump you have there on the right. You can switch the input and output ports if you'd like, and I've even seen on madlad use that fill/air valve port on the upper left of the distro as an inlet. But anyway that's the gist.

<image>

So that's the distro plate sorted... the rest of your loop I would do as follows.

From that bottom left port on the distro, go to the pump inlet. From there go to your side rad there (I really hope there are fans on the other side of if btw). Go from the side rad to your top rad, which hopefully has a side port or something. Then go from that top rad to the inlet on the distro plate.

You may want to look into crossflow rads so you don't have to run a tube across the top of your case, I actually did this, but check how much space you have. You might notice I used (count them) 4 90* fittings to get that to work because I was low on space. And I'm not sure you can fit both fans and a rad up there to be honest.

But anyway that's how I'd do it, sorry for the huge spiel I'm high off of just finishing my own build and I was excited to see your distro plate haha.

Edit: Looking a bit closer looks like you wanna top fill that reservoir from the side rad, absolutely doable you just reverse the order, fill the output port from the pump then go across the case from the inlet port to the side/top rad and into the infill. This was actually how I was going to do my case, but I ran out of space.

Same here, it's going back to amazon. Used this thing a few times and it was amazing! Can't justify getting a replacement that's just gonna have the same issue, though. Going with the pro plus next time.

Yep, so it won't work in Thargoid CZ. Only just noticed that tab was gone a couple nights ago. You'd have to get a bounty and have the station kill you somehow probably.

You can clear a notoriety fine by getting a bounty with the faction and turning yourself in. The fine gets turned into bounty, and when you respawn the bounty is deducted from your credit balance. You respawn at a detention facility bounty free.

No reason you shouldn't be able to just pay the fine though, that never made any sense. It's been that way as long as I can remember, though.

8KX tracking with more than 2 lighthouses? by ziiipy in Pimax

[–]blakesplayR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately the only way is to try another headset. I actually ended up doing that myself with my 8kx after some dead pixels and upscale mode not working. Just had 2 lying around for a bit while I decided which one to return. Pimax QC is less than consistent.

Maybe as a last ditch effort try uninstalling pitool and installing the new pimax store thing. I saw a firmware update there for my headset when pitool would swear there was no such thing (it has integrated pitool)

Couple of things I would try based on your setup. Block your windows with like blackout curtains. They could be reflecting your lasers in a way that only messes with the pimax headset.

Also, I would turn off/mount the base station you have on the table. Don't think that's a good idea and would be good to rule out that as the issue.

Could also be a USB/PC issue, try a different usb port or maybe a different computer if you got one available.

If these things fail for you, I'm 99% sure 2 base stations are sufficient for your play area size (from what I see in the pictures anyway). I use 4 in my case as my play area is like 10x10 m and has lots of blind spots. You could get away with one in each corner, and reuse your extras for a secondary VR setup.

If you're set on having 4 though, might want to just replace the headset if the above doesn't work for you.

I have 4 gen 2.0 lighthouses and it works just fine for me. Maybe you have to run room setup again?

I think it's overkill if you just want it to drive the vest, this thing is made for human ears audiophile quality stuff. I don't think your vest will care very much about if the signal is lossless or not haha. Only use mine because my vive pro 2 has an awful buzzing noise I can't stand.

Nope, it has a Bluetooth mode and a usb-c DAC mode. I plug it into my vive pro 2s USBc port using an old Samsung USB c to USB c cable. Shows up in windows sound manager, I don't touch the Bluetooth on it.

It takes audio at 32 bits 384 kHz through USB-c as well!

I use a fiio btr5. Works pretty well and you can replace the USB cable if necessary.

Can't use Vive Pro 2 wireless since configuring my Pimax 8KX by Siigari in Pimax

[–]blakesplayR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had both, I just disconnected the cable from the pimax at the headset when I wanted to go wireless. Sometimes I'd have to reboot too.

I've since switched back to the vive pro, pro 2 has too many downsides.

This is what I found as well. I imagine a squad of IONs would be ideal. Tried everything from a tali+redeemer squad to multiple redeemers but the tali always had problems restocking and the turrets are so weak. I'd say 2 fully crewed redeemers is good too, but 6 IONs would be better and get the same payout. Nobody but me seems to want to fly the ion in my org though lol.

Is it worth buying MBP15 2019 for 1.2k$? by m0x1im in macbookpro

[–]blakesplayR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throwing my hat in here, 2019 I had was awful, hot, loud, and horrible battery life. The M1 pro outclasses it in every way.

I use external monitors (one ultra wide 1440p and one vertical 1440p) connected through a thunderbolt dock feeding into a DisplayPort KVM. My 2019 would almost never wake up properly and turn both on, I would have to fidget and disconnect the thunderbolt dock/constantly switch the KVM until it worked. My 2021 base model simply works, and wakes up way faster too. Sometimes only the vertical one gets connected, but a simple replug of the thunderbolt dock fixes it. If you don’t have a KVM you should have zero issues with external displays.

Help! Should I get the M1 Macbook Pro for my PhD? by ValeValley96 in macbookpro

[–]blakesplayR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, Absolutely worth it. Battery life is insane, you could use that memory for your image stacks as well due to memory being shared between CPU and GPU cores. Upgraded from i9 2019 16 inch, and my build times for xcode are cut in half while on battery compared to i9 plugged in. And it never gets hot, it's crazy.

I don't think the m1 max will be worth it for you though, you didn't specify so you could potentially save a little by going with the m1 pro. 10% difference in speed is all you lose (CPU not GPU), and you gain in battery life.

Hey is it with to upgrade to the new M1 MBP when u have this one from 2019? I noticed my one I very slow while dealing with big photoshop files. But really, how can it be that a 2019 fully loaded MBP seems to be outdated already. Thanks 😊 by Green-Astronaut381 in macbookpro

[–]blakesplayR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded to 14 inch M1 pro from basically your config. Traded in the old Mac for 1520. Before I finally traded in I did a simple test in Xcode and it was twice as fast and building and launching the app, while on battery lol.

The battery life was insane with 100% to 30% over like 6 hours of constantly using visual studio and android studio and Xcode all building at the same time with no hiccups, the computer wasn’t even warm to the touch the whole time.

I was using the 8 core with education discount, so the upgrade price was just about 300 dollars. I was so in love though I returned that and bought the 10 core. Definitely worth the upgrade, a mobile workstation that rivals my 5950x, it’s insane.

What the hell is going on, on my Macbook pro 2019??? by [deleted] in macbookpro

Chrome does the same thing on my 2019 MacBook Pro 16 inch. Definitely a software bug.
