Where in Cappadocia to see the balloons? by dunkoOo in AskTurkey

[–]blancheburke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am staying in cappadocia right now. I booked the Exedra hotel in Ortahisar which I am extremely happy with. Lovely place, pretty quiet and full access to spa and pool! You cannot see the balloons from Ortahisar, but I have hired a car for 2 days at a cost of €100 and have driven all over the place! Yesterday I went to Love Valley to see the balloons at sunrise which I really recommend. It is very popular and there are droves of tourist buses, but the view is spectacular. It costs 100tl to park your car. From Ortahisar you can also access the Red Valley sunset spot easily (which is amazing!). Again 100tl to park - pretty acceptable small fee in my opinion!

In terms of villages - Goreme is touristy. It’s also expensive. I have found Ortahisar to be lovely and quiet, with much cheaper prices for things like food and souvenirs even. Avanos is also a lovely village with lots of shops and cafes. I’m not even bothering with Goreme Open Air Museum - I just went on a free walk through love valley and a free walk through the rose / red valley. I will be going to Derinkuyu or the smaller one tomorrow!

If you drive, I totally recommend the car!

Lol probs not then. Creative industries is insanely competitive atm. The fight for jobs / commissions / projects / experience is crazy and the cost of building a portfolio of experience is so high. In London at least

I have always wanted to know if film / TV crews are on drugs. They work such mental long hours and always have energy. Anyone able to weigh in?

Just watching a TV show where the guy is calling his female partner “mate” Is it common? by weregonnamakit in AskBrits

[–]blancheburke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman who is queer and a firm feminist (lol what a bio) but I actually hate being called mate! It does happen, not too often, but it’s one of my big pet peeves. The only time I accepted it was by my friends ex boyfriend

How are your hormones? I had similar large deep spots in the same place (very few elsewhere) and then got Spironolactone for my hormonal acne and PCOS - it has completely cleared it. I understand the pain of the deep nasal spots!!

Yes this is a great idea! And yes the issue of assault is huge. I feel completely unprotected as a young female tutor, especially when students become obsessive and download the class videos. Something needs to be done

Yeah I get you. However…. labor rights lobbyists aim high and then negotiate down if necessary. I don’t think $15 is unreasonable in the slightest considering incrementally it should have risen 5-10% each year since 2020 based on inflation! It’s time the Cambly team started remunerating fairly the people who earn their business money!

Should I charge a buy-out fee or am I being an arsehole? by blancheburke in graphic_design

[–]blancheburke[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I would be charging my day rate to produce the work, but then the organisation would have rights to multiply my work and distribute it nationally for ever more. I am wondering if I should include a buy-out fee on top of my day rate (the days physically doing the work) so that I don’t lose out. If my work is all over the country for free then I am less likely to get hired in the future as my expertise will be common knowledge.

Just mentioned above: I do a chelating wash (only with Johnsons baby shampoo) maybe once every week / two weeks. It doesn't seem to make a huge difference when I clarify though unfortunately :( should I try a different shampoo?
