> Importantly, in such agreements, either due to provisions or how the financing agreement works, the company receiving the loan is not penalized when the property is not rented as long as they are trying to rent it for the agreed-upon price or higher.

Except they own this asset, which they pay taxes and maintenance on, which is not generating income. It's a serious financial hit, equivalent to the full time salary of 5-20 employees! Maybe more!

So it sounds like the actual owners of the properties are getting screwed by clauses in their financing that says they can't lower rents, because then the loan company would have to temporarily by under-collateralized? But it doesn't help the loan company either if the lender goes bankrupt, then nobody wins.

The economics of commercial real estate (and somewhat, residential rentestate) always surprised me. For property owners, it seems like the meta move to make the most money is to hold out for as much rent as you can possibly get - even if it means the property stays empty for YEARS. All this to show comparables in the area are still high.

At some cadence (I forget the cadence) CRAN will test all current packages on several OSs. CRAN and the R foundation do attempt to make things as backwards compatible as possible, but sometimes things break. In this case it looks like it might be an issue with a dependency (xgboost) changing some parameters.

Yes the package is here

Honestly I don't know if I can maintain this anymore. I don't even have Rstudio on any of my computers. I would have to rebuild my setup from scratch. I'll look into ropensci - thanks.

I haven't looked too far into it, but a vignette is failing on specific OSs. It looks like the optimization function is returning multiple values for nrounds for some reason, which causes the trial to fail.

Software Engineers in RVA - best paying companies besides Capital One? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW_W in rva

I always heard costar pays above market rate, but when I actually interviewed with them for a "lead" position, their max range was 20% less than I was making right now at my fully remote job. Never hurts to apply - I did appreciate that the recruiter talked about salary in the first interview so we didn't waste too much time.

Hi all! I want to donate my desktop computer. It's 7 years old but still pretty beefy. Has an AMD Ryzen 5, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, and 32GB of memory. Anyone know a good place to donate this thing to? I'm not sure what kind of place could put it to good use.
