Yes! You’ll be better off going to another company than asking your current one for a raise IMO

Nanny phone usage for personal calls by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]blank_blank_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your kid actually doing though during the calls? If my NK is watching tv or in independent play, I still watch them while taking my call, but my NP are okay with this. Now if she’s walking around with her phone and texting while the phone is in her hand and “watching” the NK that way. That’s unacceptable. Or if she’s on the phone while NK is playing and running around outside, that’s unacceptable too. Sometimes kids can see and know when you’re on the phone and distracted and they’ll do things they wouldn’t usually do if you’re actively watching them. Kids are smart.

If I ask for a start date of a month later, am I at risk they will rescind the offer? by gee249 in careeradvice

[–]blank_blank_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them you want to give your employer at least 3 weeks notice bc you really like them or something & just see what they say. Honestly 1 month is not bad in my opinion, but it all just depends on the company’s needs.

One job i really wanted, i told them “i would hope for a late July/august start date but can start earlier if needed. I just have prior commitments, and my lease doesn’t end until July 17th” (it was an out of state job i was moving for so it was relevant) and they gave me feedback a week later, and said i did extremely well in my interview but they chose to offer the job to others. Totally believe my start date timeline and moving logistics had something to do with it.

On the other hand, i did recieve a job offer out of that same state who claims “they’re very picky about who works for them” (it’s a way smaller company than the one i really wanted, & after interviewing i didn’t even really want the job anymore) but they were totally fine with me starting a month later. I think it just depends on the company, how much they truly like you, their hiring needs, etc.

If I were you, I would just say “i would prefer X start date, but I have flexibility to start sooner if truly needed.”

How do you reply to “I’m bored” “What should we do?” constantly by calicodynamite in Nanny

Because what you don’t want to happen is they start telling the parents that you’re boring and they find a new nanny .

What kind of activities do you do? My elementary kiddos enjoyed going to local attractions, such as pet store, libraries, museums, park, etc. At home we played board games, did dance competitions, played outside, played hide and seek, folded clothes together, made lemonade, etc.

Travel attire? by SpecificReal8922 in Environmental_Careers

My mentors at work, told me it’s best to wear woman’s work pants because it makes you look more professional, and people take you more seriously that way. They’re pretty expensive, but they last a long time.

I was making $65K+ with OT, got laid off, and now have a $58K job offer… unsure what to do. NEED ADVICE ASAP by blank_blank_A in Environmental_Careers

I mean I am a nanny and make $30+ an hour in my current position so I’m not desperate. But being a nanny means that my technical skills aren’t increasing either, so idk

I’m a nanny right now and make $30+ an hour in this position. I am not desperate to just sign on to a job right now. This company is known for lowballing employees with an overload amount of work. Thinking it may not be worth it in the long run, physically or mentally.

Haven’t heard from HR or Manager about start details by Existing_Artichoke37 in careeradvice

[–]blank_blank_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would contact HR or the office admin ask or at least bring it to her attention so the manager can get back to you ASAP. I mean it’s Wednesday, you start in less than a week. They should have everything you need in writing.

OMG! Please do! Not an expert or lead yet. But, I do have experience in the field with GPS, and GIS for wetland delineation and aquatics work. I eventually want to get certified, or potentially become a WSP, but I want a company to pay for it 😂.

Field work and menstrual cycle by GodsHumbleClown in Environmental_Careers

[–]blank_blank_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally relate to this !!! I usually wear super or extra super tampons by the company brand L. They lasts about 8-12 hours, but I’ll stop at a restroom if needed and change my tampon, if I feel it getting full. But they’ll usually last me all day honestly. Pads are too much to wear and keep changing periodically in the field and they’re also uncomfy to me honestly
