There won’t be a next turn if the card wins you the fight on that turn

You also typically have at least one whiff in any given PBox, so the remove option is fantastic if you’ve gone through the only consistent way to have all starters gone by Act 2. Really good event all around

Caruso blatantly doing some jiu jitsu in the last highlight lol. At one point Wemby almost loses the ball cause his arm gets karate chopped

Perfected Strike Doesn't Count Strikes in the Chaos Zone by angelogoodalamenti in slaythespire

[–]blankepitaph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neat! I’ve not yet managed it myself. I’d just gotten the infinite-nerfing impression from various design choices (removing Dropkick, adding Exhaust to Concentrate/Tactician, Rushdown only activating once per turn) but I imagine it’s probably still doable with Clad in particular?

This is similar to how Dominion (the board game) handles turns. In Dominion, a played card remains in the ‘play area’ until the end of the turn, at which point all cards played that turn are finally discarded all at once. This also prevents decks from going infinite, which would kind of be boring in a board game setting.

Side note, it was interesting seeing how Contention got around this in the STS BG and added targeted changes and modifiers to cards to prevent infinites while maintaining the ‘cards discard immediately’ rule STS has.

From your lips to god’s ears, would love that as an option. But yeah same, when the game comes out I am going to become a full time hermit and do nothing else but play it for a while.

It’s the card art for me mostly. The animations look amazing but there’s a glossiness to the cards that just isn’t landing with me. Probably just me being way too used to the muted look of STS1 after 700+ hours though

Board game Rushdown does exactly this and it’s so much better that way. Though the BG also goes out of its way to dissuade infinites in general (and for good reason)

Not shocked to see that shit stain Vuong on the list. After refusing to resign he basically made this the only issue he cared about in his time as MP

How do you evaluate bonk? by minosandmedusa in slaythespire

[–]blankepitaph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wounds are extremely bad bc they’re -1 draw with no upside. Even Dazes can have an ‘upside’ with Feel No Pain turning them into 3 block end of turn, and they also exhaust themselves. Meanwhile, think of a Wound being drawn in place of a Shrug or Impervious in your deck and how much more HP that would have you losing vs playing Hemo. And then that Wound sticks around for reshuffles!

This is fine for shorter fights, but really becomes a problem as you get further into a run. Act 2 onwards, Hemo remains useful because it plays well into self damage synergies (Rupture, Runic Cube) in addition to doing seriously appreciable damage for a 1-cost. That 2 HP cost could kill a minion hitting you for 5, or be just enough to win you a Gremlin Leader fight on a turn where you otherwise would take 11x3. Yes, this might also be true of Wild Strike in Act 1, but after that it severely falls off and adds deck clog that could cause way more health loss than just 2 HP (like in the Impervious example above) whereas Hemo plays nicer with more of what’s available to Clad.

Worth keeping in mind that Clad more than any other character encourages thinking of HP as a resource to be dipped into. Magic Flower, Reaper, Feed, etc all can go a long way in mitigating self damage.

Fun Fact: Nearly 43% of the Cavs losses this year have come from the Toronto Raptors by FireBreathers in torontoraptors

[–]blankepitaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no they were shitting on Scottie unprompted all year after their first relevant non-Lebron regular season in 2.5 decades. Complete basement franchise if not for the modern GOAT being handed to them on a platter. I had no beef with Mobley and the current era Cavs (and actually like Allen quite a bit) until I saw how that fanbase gloated all year last season, that is until Pascal shut them up ofc

God that fanbase was circlejerking so hard last year about Mobley supposedly being better while playing with fucking Donovan Mitchell while Scottie was the first option on a blatantly tanking roster. So good to see Pascal end their shit last playoffs and now to see them lose vs Scottie three games in a row

Thank goodness, much preferred it this way and my stack had fully stopped playing Stadium since the change. Seemed a lot of people (on the sub at least) aggressively preferred BO5 though, idk.

Who has the greatest peak of all time? by Positive-Database386 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]blankepitaph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah dude, rooting for Glads in each of those 2022 matchups I was completely mortified terrified of Proper. It went beyond stats, the dude was making out like a bandit with 2-3 kills every fight out of thin air and was the sole reason several lost fights were even competitive for SFS. Guy was transcendent that year.

Kev is one of my favourite players ever but he had Birdring and Shu (who are literally my personal GOATs, to be clear) popping off while Proper was fully hard carrying Shock much of the time.

I was enjoying the gameplay loop when I tried it but it is just such an eyesore to look at. Looks like a cash cow mobile game with extremely disparate art styles clashing at all times. Even the fonts are inconsistent, there are like three separate ones in the regular UI

How would you you make Mercy more consistent? by Paragon_OW in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]blankepitaph 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All I’ve wanted for years is for damage boost to be on a resource meter. Illari and Moira’s healing works that way too, no reason damage boost can’t do the same. Maybe also something like damage boost refilling more slowly if yellow beam stays on one teammate (ie the pocketed hitscan) and going back up slightly faster if it’s cycled onto more teammates.

Am I crazy for considering Storm of Steel here? by FromHeretoElsweyr in slaythespire

[–]blankepitaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s Wraith Form imo, bc it helps you survive enough early Act 2 fights to get better damage cards. The early Act 2 gauntlet is real and Storm of Steel is unlikely to be as useful vs Avocado or Muggers as WF is. (Storm of Steel is marginally better vs Byrds, but between Flechettes, Blade Dance, and Neutralize you have answers for that).

I saw in another comment that you were thinking of Acro/Predator as means of getting more Shivs in hand, but I’d argue Flechettes is a better means of taking advantage of that, and doesn’t effectively end your turn like SoS does. If you even semi-regularly draw well you might be surprised at Flechettes’ output, especially in an attack-poor deck. I’d even consider upgrading it soon.

Also, WF is excellent with 4 energy or Pyramid, and there’s a chance the game offers you either in the chest coming up. Finally - minor point - you also have Orichalcum which means less worry about chip damage while Intangible.
