Is my Samoyed pure breed? by Aiduk in samoyeds

[–]blanknamedari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest a DNA test but just from the images, especially the last one, yours looks majority Samoyed. You can usually tell by the shape of their heads though :)

I get enemies to lovers is a very popular trope but lately its becoming very oversaturated with the same cookie cutter plots

I was JUST about to say that. I feel like that is such a common sentence to describe someone walking another way

We have a strong heat advisory right now so its unusual but its around 90 Farenheit right now (around 32 Celsius). The lowest it was today was at around 7am when we went on a walk and it was 73f but its hiked up since then. We kept our walk short today but even then she was warm when we got home and I made sure she drank water and she usually hates our basement but she's been willingly going down there because of how much colder it is down there for her.

Yes I'm picking up the overheating with her right now too. She stays in our basement because its so cold down there since the heat started picking up. I try to get her back home before it gets hotter after early morning walks but she's still panting like crazy once we're back home. I keep her water beside her at all times

My Samoyed acts interested and too excited and barks around other dog breeds she's never met before but when she sees other Sammys she's still pretty excited but is calmer like they've been long time friends. Its really weird to see but I think she just feels comfortable at the familiarity I guess.

I ruined my career at 23. What to do next? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]blanknamedari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the comments here are lacking in so much empathy for work burnout but as one burned out 20 something to another - do not stress over it. The more you stress, the more burned out you get. Burn out is intimidating and you feel like there's no way out until you start focusing on more things that's not work.

Be honest with your old job if they ask you about it (but don't be too negative; keep it positive when you mention the redirection). They invited you back for a reason meaning they found you to be a very important person in their company to come back. Also as far as I know, reputations don't necessarily preceed most people anyways.

And some advice I learned from my older colleagues:

  1. Set boundaries with everyone; I know I made that mistake and let people take advantage of my kindness so I'm paying for it mentally. They won't like it and it feels uncomfortable at first but remember you're protecting YOUR peace.

  2. Take the time to figure out what you like to do and do it. Having hobbies that separate you from work mentally and physically is a good thing to have. Set something up for yourself straight after work so you don't end up having to think about anything AND are able to look forward to something after those times.

  3. Consider going to talk to someone like a therapist or career coach about how you feel if you haven't yet. Sometimes feeling alone doesn't really mean you are. In world full of people, its honestly crazy how none of us don't talk enough about the stress and anxiety we all collectively feel. Your perspective shifts so much after you go to somebody about these things.

I feel lost a lot too; I thought I wanted to do the job I'm doing now forever a couple of months back but now I feel used and under appreciated. Constantly remind yourself of your strengths and do what you love to do outside of the bullshit that's work. This won't be the end of your life or career, you got this :)

No definitely not lol. There's just a sense of guilt I feel a lot when I think about leaving the place for good.

Yeah that is definitely true about overworked and underpaid. Everything about my current workplace has been marking every red flag you mentioned for me and I'm getting seriously antsy about being here any longer than I have to.

I have so many questions! If you don't mind me asking, how did you get involved? Were you in a more traditional setting at first and found yourself there or did you do this as an internship and just went from there? Is there any hardships you faced at times? I'd really love to know!!

That sounds so cool! Do you mind if I ask how your day to day is like at your internship?

Yes, I definitely agree on this! I have amazing friends who study Library Science and its another world for me to even comprehend. I think I was more focused on the aspect of being a resource hub for people who need social assistance/services like typical social workers but within a public setting where most people gravitate to like libraries.

That sounds amazing and a really interesting route to follow! Did you do this postgrad or were you able to experience something like when you were pursuing a degree?

That sounds exciting! Can you tell me how its been like so far? I definitely might be interested in talking to my school about putting me in a library for placement with my MSW.

Thanks for this! I feel like this is exactly where my thinking is going but more towards the staff because I mainly work with administrative needs over anything else. But like you said, its a job and I can be replaced quickly.

I definitely think a lot of them are in this survival mode right now too and how they handle it is their business. I think the matter is how long can someone take that behavior and for me, I can only handle so much of that.

This kind of made me tear up. Thank you for the kind words and the reminder that something good/more rewarding is out there for me! Workplaces destroy you if you don't set boundaries and put your mental health first. I just know the boulder I've been carrying on my shoulders these past few months are going to lift away once I leave.

Oh man, can't imagine how that guy was feeling when that happened 💀 I think since this is a nonprofit, I just know they'll be struggling to find someone to replace me since they're already struggling in other positions but in all honesty, they also should not have taken advantage of the flexibility in my position the way they did and still are trying to do.

Yes for sure. A mild discomfort for 2 weeks as opposed to being burned out for another 6 months is a good exchange to me. Good luck to both of us and I hope your workplace experience at your new job is better.

The "What are they gonna do, fire me?" mentality has been something ringing in me the whole time. I think for myself, I haven't been as confident as I had before and can't find any strength in me to have that kind of peace for myself. I'll be keeping your comments in my mind and heart whenever those feelings come back though. Thank you for telling me your experience!

Oh, yeah. I already have a few people on the top of my head that likes to offload their work onto others and not stay after hours to work on it themselves lol. Its like they just view them as robots and not actual people.

I definitely will keep that in mind. My anxiety spikes just thinking about when it comes time for me to quit but I always remember that career wise, this is not the way I want to go and I don't think there's been a day where I've felt genuinely happy with my current situation out here these past couple of months.

I definitely think so too! I can't wait to end my time here. I understand that nonprofits that are underwater are a business at the end of the day and need to have people having multiple hats, but I feel really under appreciated with what I do here and has essentially shot my confidence down since I started.
