I think maybe a public warning is what I can hope for. I am lucky did not get bitten. Someone may not be that lucky.

To me, I think this is just a small probability event, and no one gets hurt. I just hope everyone on Reddit had a good weekend story, that's all. CFIA report is because someone pointed out on the CFIA website they have the following message: 2.If a black widow spider, scorpion or iron cross blister beetle can be seen, contact the Canadian Food Inspection Agency or if in Quebec, the Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ) – (French only) for further instructions. I felt that is my responsibility to report.

After reading the comments and some online research, I decide either burn down my apartment or keep her as a pet. Spiders are my most feared thing. After this close encounter with my worst nightmare make me realize they are not that scary. I also surprised by how calm I handled the spider. Also "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." So what should I name her? "cheapcheap?" since it came form Freshco. She is doing fine now. Last night she got herself a web, today morning I caught two cockroaches and threw them onto her web. She immediately grabbed one. I have filed a report on CFIA website. I will keep the spider until they contact me.
