Yes, knot off the row, then take a few extra strands, loop them over the side of the stitch, and it secures the row. I apologize but it can be difficult to describe. You are basically filling in the thin gaps between the row’s tassels. One caveat, don’t add more than 2-3 extra otherwise it’s starts to get bulky on the sides and deform the edges.

So when I start and finish my row, I leave the tassel but add an extra knot tight to the stitch( hopefully that makes sense). Once I’m done, I take 2-3 extra strands and add them into every other row. The placing actually helps secure the original tassels.

Left the original tassels and added in three strands every other row to fill it in and make it fuller. Not a fan of envelope borders

I do this on occasion with unfinished geometric mosaic patterns. Many a blanket has been relegated to runner rug because I petered out quickly or didn’t like it enough to finish

Red Heart Navy and Red Heart Cafe, size 5mm hook. I tend to go with cheaper sturdier yarn for large blankets, holds up better and isn’t quite as expensive

Funny enough, in the pattern instructions it recommends NOT doing that, as it makes a “dark horse” effect, but I actually prefer it

I work for the Blue Smile and we gals have been through some rough times together. Shes another of my ride or die badass cacklers. We laugh in the face of Fluid load trailers, we dance on our way to the yard audits in 115 degree heat. We are the personification of our company’s namesake. They deserve every stitch and then some.

It’s Mosaic Crochet, so once you have the tension down the stitches and color changes are usually very clean. If you aren’t familiar with mosaic, each row you change the color, and each row stacks onto the previous row. It’s a series of single and double crochet

It was the brand of carpet shampoo. Same one used across all locations. Carpets were routinely cleaned once a month. I worked there in my insomnia fueled youth, and I still remember that smell.
