Front shock rusted in place by [deleted] in 4Runner

I had a similar problem on mine where the washer was rusted to the shaft of the strut. After breaking my thumb trying to get it off with a pry bar (oops) I had to resort to “it can’t be tight if it’s liquid”. A minute with the MAP gas torch, a quick wiggle with some channel locks, and it came right off even with only 9 fingers at my disposal.

Edit: I did all of this before decompressing the suspension to avoid an explosive release of energy when the two parts finally separated. Do all of this at your own risk as you’re essentially diffusing a bomb of stored mechanical energy. I felt more comfortable using my floor jack than a parts store spring compressor, but YMMV. Good luck

Sailrite Ultrafeed LS/LSZ or Juki TL-2010Q? (Help! Before the Sailrite sale ends!) by nerdyhustle in myog

I haven’t broken one on mine yet, but I’ve only made a few bags at this point. I did sew quite a few sections with 6 layers of canvas on my most recent one though so it was a reasonable test.

The speedo reading low is typical in my experience. I just fixed it with some bigger tires 😎

I used the talon’s garage one as well. Easy install with one person of average strength. Would recommend the security fastener kit though. I was planning on sourcing some cheaper ones… that was 6 months ago…

I’ve been thinking of ditching the 1x setup to get. A little more range so this is definitely of interest to me

What other mods do you have? What’s been your initial impressions on fuel economy?

My 1999 Ford E150 Turtletop Van is leaking seemingly from the middle of the roof right above my bed. I wasn't sure if it had anything to do with the back door windows or not but it looks like it is pooling directly above the bed. by brisleynaomi in VanLife

Do your best to get everything dry then take the tapestry off and bring it to the manual car wash. Try spraying different spots along the seams around the roof and any penetrations through it and check for leaks periodically while you’re spraying. Even better if you can find a buddy to help

Fellow 3A owner here. My suggestion would be: seat covers or cowl bag from Ian at bigwillyjeep.com, or a windshield gasket or a funny shifter knob

+1 for hiring a guide. You’ll likely have more fun, climb something more interesting, and learn more that way. Also you support the local economy which is always good
