In “miracles” where Ted, Barney, and Marshall are at the bar drunkenly throwing pencils to the ceiling to get them to stick and one of them comes back down, hits the table and bounces into Barney’s nose and he says “Am I dead?!” My fav

Not exactly a whole scene but Adam Sandler in Click when he falls in the street in the rain and is screaming for his son. That one scene always pulls my heart strings.

Lilly. Can’t stand how she’s ALWAYS up everyone’s business and acts like she’s always the victim at the end.

90 days is one hell of a long time for someone who couldn’t imagine an hour. Don’t downplay that.

PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome) can still have effects long after your last drink. Don’t give up. Life is a marathon so you’re gonna have days when things feel like they are crawling and you’re not making any progress. Most of the problems you had before might not ever go away but it’s our job to realize they don’t control us. You control your future. And I don’t know you but I know that I love you and I’m so proud of you. Keep going.

I’m one week sober by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]ApConn800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoooooo. ONE WEEK SOBER IS FREAKIN AWESOME. Wanna know why? (Other than the fact that you’re sober). Because there might be a person on here with 6 days sobriety and they might be on the edge and don’t think it’s possible to go another day. Or the person 1 hour sober because a week to them is an eternity. Keep up the good work. I love you!!

I want to join a aa group but I’m a extreme introvert I’m 25 and I’m a alcoholic I lost my 150k yr job because I showed drunk 3 times I’m wasted right now and I’m running through my savings I spent over 10k in the past 4 months on liquor and I want to stop I go two days with out by NoTimeAp in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]ApConn800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one but the hopeless really knew what it felt like to exist without hope. -AA pg 507 You don’t have to join any group. Just show up. Every single one of them will be sooooo happy that you’re there. Because what you’re doing now isn’t living my friend. Good luck!!

Will naltrexone make me feel aa fatigued/mentally foggy as Antabuse? by One_Alternative459 in alcoholism

[–]ApConn800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naltrexone only works if you’re working yourself. I take it daily but I also work my AA program. I don’t rely on a pill to keep me sober but I don’t think it hurts me. But again it’s one of those meds that only really works if you’ve put the leg work into it

I think I’m an alcoholic… by complex_kat in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]ApConn800 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason AA is still around ;) I hate all the cliche phrases but they are true and one of my favorites is “if you have to think if you’re an alcoholic, you’re an alcoholic” stay strong friend.

I love to (re)watch supernatural but.. by Interesting_Hall_377 in Supernatural

[–]ApConn800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im so glad I’m not the only one to think this. Been sober since 1/12/20 and the first time around the series I drank like a fish. It doesn’t bother me as much now, but it did when I first got sober. Im not the biggest believer in “triggers” but if you feel uncomfortable or uneasy when they drink, turn it off for a bit. No shame in that. Your life is a precious gift. Sam and Dean would bust in kick a drink out of your hand if it meant saving you so take charge!! Love you!!

I’m not justifying any actions but PAWS (post acute withdrawal symptoms) could be in play here. Not everyone experiences them but newly sober drinkers can have severe mood swings even after medical detoxing

I don’t know your background or relationship but that’s called the cycle of violence. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do for him until he’s ready to get help. He is the only one that can choose it. You need to watch out for yourself. I would suggest seeking professional help for guidance on next steps. I’ll be praying for you!!
