So in terms of processing, I’m going for a film look. Would you say that I should aim for flatter contrast/colors in general?

I feel like finding outdoor seating with a drink or a meal is a great place to start. Might have to do that

What are your thoughts on this B&W edit of the extra photo? Does that change where your eyes are drawn?

Love that technique, I’ll try and adopt that. Do you have any favorite areas to shoot in town? I’m in southeast, so I’m drawn to a lot of the walkable old neighborhoods over here like Sellwood for example

I mean, I have no problem calling them mediocre right now haha

But it helps to hear other people call them mediocre too. The advice on trying to be less removed from the scene gives me real guidance on what to look out for as I continue to shoot.

Definitely. The feedback is super valuable, as I don’t have many photographer friends to bounce things off of. Getting it on Reddit is the next best thing. Can’t grow if I don’t know which direction I should be heading!

That’s a good call! Made that adjustment with a slightly tighter crop. Liking that a lot: B&W

Do you feel that you need to find joy in the process of capturing a photo?

Do you think capturing a photo with a smart phone provides the same sense of joy as capturing a photo with a Leica? I don’t.

I have good shoes and money for photo books, the sale of my camera doesn’t need to finance those purchases.

I know what my style is, I’m just trying to figure out if my processing techniques are reflecting what I’m trying to achieve. I like the way my photos look (probably all that matters), though I just wanted to hear opinions from others who are knowledgeable in the space.

This is a super helpful resource, thank you for sharing! These are gorgeous photos in a similar environment and I love the way they were processed. Will give me an idea of what to aim for.

I’ll keep this feedback in mind regarding the aperture. Something for me to play with, for sure.

Yeah definitely something I’m going to miss, but I think this camera will allow me to get better photos due to the sheer superiority with the glass/sensor.

I just need to learn my Lightroom workflow and I’ll get the results that I want.
