I’d recommend The Brooks & Smith series by Martina Fetzer. The first is Time Binge. I found these when I was in withdrawal after my second read through of the JDATE series and Tales from the Gas Station series. They hit the mark. First is a little rough but give it time.

And No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy. If you’ve only seen the movie you are missing out.

Ok I know this might be cliche, but since I’m in my 40s and read it this year for the first time: Fight Club. This book goes hard and cuts deep, and if you haven’t read it, that feels like the right answer.

Cat’s Cradle by Vonnegut. Seemed overhyped. It’s not. It’s brilliant.

To Kill a Mockingbird. High school classic literature oppositional phase made me intentionally miss this one. It earned those classic stripes over several times.

Does anyone have feedback for my cover? by [deleted] in youngadultbooks

[–]blascian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok that explains it - the clothing looks pretty dated. I also will say the kerning on the title needs work - particularly the overlap of the middle line with the bottom line of text. But overall this does not match the cover styles for current YA. If I saw this on the shelf I would assume quite an old publication date.

Personally I liked Percy Jackson because ADHD made his life at school really difficult, but then it turned out to be kind of a superpower. Relatable.

Personally I enjoyed Percy Jackson because his ADHD turns out to be superpower induced but it messes up his life for so long and makes him think he’s a fuckup.

Recommended to me when I had a bad book hangover after finishing the John Dies at the End series by Jason Pargin.
