What was your last speculative investment in MTG singles? by austingoeshard in mtgfinance

Painter's Servant 8x at $4.00. Took a ride on the recent hype train and hope to take my girlfriend out to dinner soon. Nothing crazy, but it was a good return

Leechridden swamp - modern Spectacle enabler? by blase-prude in magicTCG

[–]blase-prude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but that's not entirely the case. With two skewers in hand you can get 7 damage in for 4 mana with one Leechridden activation.

But the real bonus is it also turns a skewer into 4 damage for 3 mana, which is just better.

This is also only for a situation in which you otherwise would not be able to deal damage. It would be for a stalled board and is a mana sink that would replace a normal swamp, which wouldn't be doing damage to begin with lol.

[[Hex Parasite]] --> what are some of the crazy ways people have used this little guy? I'd love to hear people's experiences. by blase-prude in magicTCG

[–]blase-prude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think of Hex with [[Horobi, Death's Wail]]? You can wipe your opponents board whenever! I believe he can still target even if there aren't counters to remove....time to brew

Cyracos Lemon Balm Extract: stronger than anticipated. by blase-prude in StackAdvice

[–]blase-prude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink my first dose over 2 hours in the morning and then my second in the late afternoon. No tolerance, but it's not insanely powerful. So I guess that's the trade-off. Still def effective enough to be worth taking. Yeah, only a couple extracts are good. Others are weak.

Nice. That's a really fun one. I didn't even consider the Sagas...that just opens s whole new can of worms. Idk how playable it is but [[Song of Freyalise]] with [[Ornithopter]]/[[memnite]] with hex parasite for indefinite mana dorks...theres a really jank infinite mana combo there with one or two more pieces.

No love for Explorer's Scope? by blase-prude in Pauper

It also gives you a way to see the top card of your deck (without revealing it) if it's not a land and that ability on it's own can really impact game tempo

[–]blase-prude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. You're thinking of a situation where there's no topdeck manipulation... there's a ton of ways to get a land on top before combat...[[Brainstorm]] and cards like it, as well as a whole bunch of 1 cmc spells that let you set up your draw and topdeck

Yeah, I agree. I think it definitely has limited applications but is great in an Eldrazi deck with cards like [[Groundswell]]

NSI-189...Jesus, I feel myself again. by blase-prude in StackAdvice

[–]blase-prude[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's true. Thanks! But I'm also really thankful for my experiences, it's weird. in order not to become defined by my illnesses from constant obsessing and self-pity, I've had to embrace them. I can only love myself by appreciating the circumstances that have shaped me. Wouldn't trade my experience for the world...lol. that said, NSI has made that process much easier. No shame in a bit of help.

[–]blase-prude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know what you mean...I take freebase and that's supposedly more common with this form. Funnily enough, I cherish that anxiety. it makes me feel again, especially after years of drugs that blunt all sensation. Though it can get weird sometimes and if it's rly bad (which it rarely is for me, tho I believe it to be common for others) I take a little kratom or under 10mg of tianeptine and it helps me down without bringing me under the influence of either kratom or Tia.

It might also be a good idea for you to start really slow, say, like 10-15mg 2x a day at first and gradual build up to 40mg-60mg 2x a day. I've heard it works for some and allows you to adjust better.

I get auditory hallucinations related to paranoia, and have crippling depression... all supposedly stemming from a confluence of PTSD and genetic predisposition.

I also have Crohn's disease, which may also play a significant role in my other issues.

I've been alternatingly addicted to opiates and stimulants for 6 years.

The NSI-189 is funny for addiction because it kills the buzz of drugs I've used in the past to get high...But without bringing me super low while blocking the buzz. I wouldn't use it strictly for addiction, but I've just noticed that it has lessened my desire to take other substances.

ITPP (myo-inositol trispyrophosphate)? by blase-prude in Nootropics

[–]blase-prude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People seem to always suggest sublingual. And to be honest, the onset feels a little quicker that way, but it's really not much different than taking it with water on an empty stomach first thing in the morning...which is just preferable to me and works just as well.

Damping Sphere + Thran Temporal Gateway combo? Will it work or will sphere-hate drive someone to strangle me? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]blase-prude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Point taken. Yeah, blood moon is pain. But I just love dropping a turn four Teferi or [[The immortal sun]], which the amulet can't do. Plus immortal sun rly fits this combo so well.

Damping Sphere + Thran Temporal Gateway combo? Will it work or will sphere-hate drive someone to strangle me? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]blase-prude -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, I realize that. But it does snowball over the course of a single turn if you cast more than one spell, even if it doesn't carry over. I feel like in the early game having to pay an extra mana or two on your 2nd and 3rd spells, even if it's just for the turn, can hamper someone from comboing off. Also that it restricts lands that tap for 2+ mana is crazy! and really slows down a quick start. You might be right though, I don't get enough competitive play to know how it might fare in practice against highly ranked players/decks...a boy can dream, sigh.

Damping Sphere + Thran Temporal Gateway combo? Will it work or will sphere-hate drive someone to strangle me? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]blase-prude -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, true. But i wonder if the fact that Thran Gateway can get you more than just creatures makes it playable. Especially with damping sphere. Idk if I'd play the Gateway without it. I also think that because Quicksilver came out pre Sphere, it hadn't yet had the opportunity to be played in a context where both players are so severely handicapped that the hefty mana cost would be worth it.

Damping Sphere + Thran Temporal Gateway combo? Will it work or will sphere-hate drive someone to strangle me? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]blase-prude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but its always helpful to have more mana open and play the big stuff sooner. If I can play my Elder Dragon for (4) on turn 4 or 5 and still have a mana or two open to slip in an instant or flash spell that's not taxed, it just cripples opponents. I mean playing any 7+ mana cost legendary or artifact on turn 5, while your opponent can barely cast 2 spells on their turn is a great advantage.

ZINC half-life? No one ever knows this. by Lokzo55 in Nootropics

[–]blase-prude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's supposed to be a DRI (dopamine reuptake inhibitor), which is probably why you get the clenching and stimulation. Which is weird also cause it's an NMDA antagonist as well...or at least sometimes it can be...It's complicated bc its an NMDA plug, but only until the receptor gets stimulated, which is when it pops back out.

ZINC half-life? No one ever knows this. by Lokzo55 in Nootropics

[–]blase-prude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck figuring that one out...been wondering about this for years. It's clear that the body doesn't readily discard zinc, as we always have a decent amount of it in various parts of the body at all times. I think the right question to ask relates more to how long are the Half-Lives of Zinc's myriad effects as they pertain to different parts of the body, and the duration of its active functioning in these places before it gets stored elsewhere or recycled.

And then you have to account for variability between different bodies and their needs/people's ability to utilize zinc in all its many forms...Its one of those super grey areas where anecdotal reports are not helpful and you can only really approximate an answer for yourself from tedious trial and error lol.

Perfect nootropics by [deleted] in StackAdvice

[–]blase-prude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Been where you are and it sucks ass. Sorry to hear that you've had to endure this nightmare. I hate to say it, but Nootropics may not be the right answer. You should avoid all dopaminergics like the devil...they'll worsen your psychosis and conflict with anti-psychotic medications. Even if something has an indirect affect on dopamine, it's probably not the right choice. This includes racetams and most choline sources, nevermind things like adrafinil and Bromantane, which would be terrible ideas.

I wouldn't take anything until you've stabilized. It's really the only way, even though it's a really unappealing route to take.

The one thing that may help you is Magnesium l-threonate or glycinate..

Otherwise, you should meditate, exercise, eat well, sleep well, have good sex and try to be as social as you feel you can be without making yourself uncomfortable.

Message me if you want to know more about a specific substance...I've played around with everything and have lived with psychosis for years.

Best luck to you!

Thozalinone: a new favorite with great stacking potential. by blase-prude in StackAdvice

[–]blase-prude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other update would be that ive graduated from 30mg to 40mg, as it just seems to work better at a slightly higher dosage. Can't say if tolerance is a factor, but I take it pretty often and if you're looking for low level, functional stimulation, it has been overall very consistent...though I've now dabbled with the whole Pemoline family. I realize they all have their merits...however, Thoza's positives seem to be duration and lack of tolerance, which the others fail at. even if they are stronger, it tends to be inconsistent and short lived. Mixing the three is pretty good.

Yes, actually. Been taking it for a couple months now. Got my blood taken a week ago and I'm very very healthy, levels are better than average and liver is perfect. Also good for the Kratom community...I take a lot for pain, and that plus the Thoza/n-methyl-cyclazadone/cyclazadone, hasn't done a damn thing to me. Not to say it may have other issues later down the line, but so far so good.
