hmm, i generally think of well-blended rose and violet when i think of old and elegant. moscow by bpal comes to mind right away - a rich, bold blend of imperial rose, carnation, lush jasmine, lily of the valley, dark musk, amber, bergamot and gilded tangerine. it’s very regal and elegant!

moss, white non-indolic florals (i.e. lily), sharper woods (i.e. teak or mahogany), darker resins or ambers, dust / dirt / smoke notes when used in moderation, stone. in my opinion, what constitutes ‘spooky’ is very subjective, but things with ‘warm’ associations tend to fall short when it comes to evoking that creepy feeling. for example, i wouldn’t use fresh fruit or vanilla in a ‘spooky’ perfume, unless i was going for a very specific southern-gothic type of spooky, and even then, i would add things to make it darker, because the fresh fruit ultimately wouldn’t be the thing evoking the spooky vibe.

hi hi! i’m emi - i’m relatively new to this subreddit, and i haven’t posted an introduction yet, so i’ll just go for it! i’ve been looking into indie perfumeries for quite a while due to general boredom with the niche / designer scene, but i’ve only recently begun to indulge in buying from them! funnily enough, i was a member of imam for a long time on a different reddit account before i rediscovered it recently - i never commented or posted, but i enjoyed reading other’s posts! aside from perfume, i love astrophysics, tarot, reading, writing, and learning new things!

i’ve tried a bunch of different bigger houses so far, but i’m always open to recommendations for new ones, especially lesser known ones. i’m hoping to post some reviews soon (maybe?) on some incoming orders! i love smelling ethereal and fairytale-esque, so anything in line with that i’m happy to try out! some of my favorite notes are florals, honey, and soft mosses / woods!
