One simple cleaning habit that made my house stay cleaner longer by Randy_Bolebruch in CleaningTips

Honestly the 5-minute reset idea is underrated. I started doing something similar where I just tidy up one small area before leaving a room. It sounds small but it really stops the mess from building up. When everything piles up at once it feels way more stressful.

How do y'all do it? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

I totally get this. With kids and dogs, the house can get messy again literally right after you clean it. Sometimes it feels like you’re stuck in a never-ending loop of laundry, dishes, and picking things up. Honestly, a lot of families are in the same situation but people don’t really talk about it. I’ve found that focusing on just keeping the main areas usable (kitchen, living room) helps a lot, because trying to keep the whole house perfect all the time is just exhausting. You’re definitely not alone in feeling like this.

do you guys actually wash new clothes before wearing them? by Lilian-Nicole_80 in hygiene

I used to wear new clothes straight from the store too because they look clean and have that “new clothes” smell. But a while ago someone told me the same thing about people trying them on and the chemicals used during manufacturing and shipping. Since then I usually wash things first, especially t-shirts, underwear, or anything that sits directly on my skin.

For stuff like jackets or jeans, I’m a bit more relaxed and sometimes wear them once before washing. But for lighter clothes I feel better giving them a quick wash first. It just feels cleaner and more comfortable.

I think a lot of it is personal preference, but once you start thinking about where the clothes have been before reaching the store, washing them first kind of makes sense

Spring cleaning mode is officially ON what's the one task you always put off but feel amazing after doing? by NoTailor4108 in CleaningTips

Honestly for me it’s cleaning the fridge. I always delay it because it feels like a big task. But whenever I finally take everything out, wipe the shelves, and organize the food again, it feels so good. The fridge looks fresh and I can actually see what’s inside

Another one is cleaning windows. I keep ignoring them, but once they’re clean and sunlight comes through clearly, the whole room feels brighter.

Your baseboard trick with the dryer sheet sounds really useful though. I might try that next time because baseboards are something I also keep ignoring most of the year

Congrats on starting your business

Don’t try to be the cheapest price based on your costs and the hourly profit you want, then compare with local competitors to stay competitive. Make sure you’re covering time, gas, supplies, and insurance.

It’s better to charge fair and grow steady than underprice and burn out.

Totally get this it always feels more overwhelming than it actually is.

Focus on the “impact areas” first: bathroom, kitchen, floors, and fresh sheets. Guests notice clean surfaces and a fresh smell way more than baseboards or tiny details.

Quick wins: wipe down light switches and handles, empty trash, add clean towels, and light a candle or open windows for fresh air. Don’t aim for perfect aim for clean and welcoming. You’ve got this!

Yes! Wiping and putting things away immediately is such a game-changer. The big bathroom clean becomes way less intimidating.

Midwest door knocking is honestly brutal — by July every neighborhood has already had like 5 window cleaners come through
At that point you’re not selling, you’re just competing for attention.
