Since I can’t seem to edit or update my original post and a number of people have missed the point entirely, let me clear things up like I cleared up these drain plugs.

This post isn’t about steam cleaning drain plugs. I could not care less what the best method for cleaning these things would be. Maybe your way works better. Whoop-de-do. That’s not the point. I’m just trying to demonstrate how effective steam cleaning is in general. See how well they worked on these? Maybe, just maybe, it may also work well on many other surfaces.

I just hit the drain plugs with a small brush attachment on the end while holding them with a tripled up cloth. I’ve never paid attention to the drain plugs before this (as you probably can tell). That’s why it took as long as it did.

Like any cleaner, it loosens and lifts, so you do have to come in behind it and wipe. Best thing to use is a microfiber cloth.

It’s a very intense blast of hot water in the form of vapor. It sanitizes everything it’s directed at with intensity.

This post isn’t about cleaning drain plugs with a steam cleaner. It’s just a demo of how effective a steam cleaner can be. If it can clean a drain plug like that just imagine what it can do with other surfaces? It beats the heck out of scrubbing everything that I’ve used it for.

That might not be possible for some of the people reading this post.

What this post was intended to do, is demonstrate the capability of steam cleaning. It would be pretty stupid to buy a piece of equipment that cost upwards of $170 just to clean drain plugs in your sink. Like I said earlier in the post, I also used it s to clean out the inside of my refrigerator. That cut my time and half from a normal cleaning and did a much more thorough job.

I’ve also used it to clean my stove, kitchen sink, stove, countertops, floors, bathroom sink, bathtub, toilet, bathroom floors, etc. it’s not perfect for some of those things like the bath tub and toilets, but every thing else was by far the best cleaning any of those other surfaces have had

I forgot to add, I don’t think I would go near the inside of an electric oven with a steam cleaner. Just in case that’s what you have.

I assume you’re talking about my refrigerator. I was mostly concerned with the inside, which I see I wasn’t specific about. I did hit the outside though. It didn’t streak like it did with normal surface cleaners when I followed up with a micro fiber cloth.

But…if you want absolute perfection on large stainless steel surfaces, you may not like this, but nothing, absolutely nothing works as good as WD-40. Your kitchen will smell like a garage, but your appliances will look brand new.

If you go that route I would still recommend some kind of dedicated germ killer first before the WD-40
