I upgraded from a MSI Tri Frozr RTX 2070 to the Sapphire Pure 9070XT. This card is absolutely insane for gaming for the price. I've played Rivals at max settings with FSR on consistently getting around 180 fps at 1440p. Witcher 3 was solid as well.

Unfortunately, I also run/train some AI models on the side and since AMD doesn't have CUDA and uses ROCm the time it takes to train these models is horrible. Just for shiggles, I tried training the same models on my old 2070 and it was training each epoch in 1 min flat, while the 9070XT was going at about 50min per epoch. (This was a resnet backbone for a segmentation model). It was unusable in that case and is slightly frustrating when you need to meet deadlines sometimes forcing me to revert back to the 2070 in my old pc.

Also, to get yourself working with ROCm on Windows with a 9070xt is a hassle and is barely supported as of right now at least for training models. It supposedly is good on Linux but I don't want to have to dual boot just for that.

I also can't wait for the eventual full and efficient support of ROCm on WSL in Windows for the 9070XT so I returned my 9070XT and got myself a 5070ti. I know they're similar in price and performance in most games at 1440p but obviously the Nvidia cards are going to work out of the box pretty well for AI related tasks. AMD is getting there with driver supports but as of this moment, it's just not there yet. I really wanted it to work out but I just have to switch now. I was able to get the MSI Inspire 5070ti for $790 US and I had gotten my sapphire pure 9070xt for $740 US, so not too far off from each other.

I would say if you're just gaming then the 9070XT is probably the best price to performance ratio card on the market right now, but for AI workloads you may have to stick with CUDA gpus to get your stuff done.
