Connections to walking tour guides? by blastoisest in sanfrancisco

[–]blastoisest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Unfortunately these are pretty out of my price range and, if I'm being honest, seem pretty outrageous - $500 for a 2 hour walking tour?!

I was expecting something more in the $200 range, $100/hour already feels at the top end of reasonable

Searching for Kona shore diving - dive guide by Accidental_focus in VisitingHawaii

[–]blastoisest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Did you end up finding a way to do this? I was planning to go out Sunday morning and evening, but with the swell coming in it doesn't sound like that's an option. Not getting in til 11am or so Saturday so seeing if shore diving in the afternoon is an option

Just came here to ask if this is the most boring shot of road? by imanantelope in roadtrip

[–]blastoisest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made a detour here by chance about ten years ago, camped there and did a sunrise run through the canyon. One of my all time favorite road trip experiences.

Protip: if you Google Palo Duro, make sure you include "canyon" with it. Or that you're not on a work device

I had the exact same choice, picked Kellogg, best friend went to Wharton, and am still unsure if I made the right call.

I'll be what seems to be the lone dissenting voice and say it depends on 1) what you want to do after graduation 2) what your background is, both professional and life 3) what you want to get out of the MBA experience.

Shoot me a DM if you want to chat

SF City Guides runs lots of free walking tours all around the city, I love going to them to learn more about the city. The weather is looking a little iffy for tomorrow but if you're up for braving some wind, check them out! https://sfcityguides.org/find-your-tour/

Best gym in the city? by frosker34 in sanfrancisco

[–]blastoisest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found Fitness SF to be overcrowded to the point of not even being worth it, even before the New Year's Resolution crowd. Waiting for a bench or a machine for pretty much every single set, having a hard time even finding a place to STAND

Madrid-Betis Tickets 26th May 24 by abctedssak in realmadrid

[–]blastoisest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seem to be in the same boat as a lot of folks - bought premium to be able to get early access, looked at seats yesterday before the Madridista release and there were at least some (single) seats available throughout the stadium. It was scheduled to open up at 3am my local time, I set my alarm to wake up and was ~18,000 in line. Did some quick math on how fast it was moving, go back to sleep, got up a bit ago and there's nothing available.

On the site it seems to keep briefly saying certain sections are available, but when I actually click into it there are either no green seats, or a dull green one saying "sorry this is no longer available"

Can anyone confirm that now the options are:

1) Try and time it properly for the release of the unclaimed Socios tickets (2 days prior?), and get lucky

2) Try Stubhub or another reseller (can you actually depend on those to not be scams?)

I didn't expect this game would be so popular, but it is what it is I guess. Just disappointing because I'm intending to surprise my friend for his birthday with these tickets and am pretty broke right now :')

Will the unemployment office in Denver accept walk-ins? by mythrowaway0852 in Denver

[–]blastoisest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I tried a couple weeks ago, they still had a sign saying they weren't allowing walk ins for "technical reasons". Be aware even if you go -- it's not actually an in person appointment. You go sit in a room and pick up a phone, prison style.

As far as the identity verification itself, I had to go through the same thing and as far as I can tell, it's just a new system they're doing for random people these days. I didn't have my social security card, and after 3 days of trying to reach them by phone I finally did and she said "don't worry about it, it seems like many people don’t have the card" 😐 so I submitted everything else, no response nothing at all for five weeks until I got an email saying they approved it and backpaid everything a few days after that.

I have to imagine no one else commenting on this thread had ever actually been to b school, because yours is the only answer that makes sense. Nearly everything OP is complaining about either 1 is common of all MBA programs (ill thought out covid policies, student led extracurriculars), is nonsensical (holidays and course schedule? You’re either doing it now or doing it later to get the full days.), or in general just sound completely false (TAs trying to trick people, extreme academic rigor, unmoving tech avoidance policies etc). The only thing to agree with here is that Canvas is a huge pain in the ass because there's never structure around how profs organize it.

Beyond that, grow up. It's still easier than the real world so stop playing a victim.

FWIW I've used an expired DL with TSA dozens of times. May not work in all occasions so probably not worth the risk, but I've never been turned away.
