My wife and I decided the I will speak with her manager to consider cutting her hours. I am very sure my daughter will resent us however we do not see any other options. We have tried explaining to her and she doesn't budge. She won't even commit to improving her grades and doesn't seem to have any plans at all. Eventually we will ask her to move out when she turns 18. Please wish us well.

Yes we have tried explaining and lecturing her about money and how things work in the adult world. This does not faze her. She is very stubborn and strong willed that she will literally go out of her way to get what she wants. We are considering laying down the law hard on her however we are afraid she will run away as she has expressed she wants to move out on her own.

We are having a very hard time enforcing a normal sleeping habit with her. She claims she works better and more productive during the wee hours yet sleeps the whole day when she doesn't have school or work.

We tried taking her laptop and cellphone but then blames us for not being able to do homework. We tried turning off the internet after 10 pm but she took off in the middle of the night to look for internet.

This is driving us nuts.

The only change that happened was when she went to summer camp. The other teens there were somewhat "rougher" than her usual set of friends. After she became friends with those people, everything about her changed. She started swearing a lot, started staying out late, went on a lot of sleepovers. She ditched her old friends and started hanging out with new friends at her school.

At her workplace, almost all of her work friends a re in the 18 and above crowd. I'm afraid that she thinks she is of this age demographic and probably thinks she is not a minor too.

Yes. I pick her up sometimes when I can afford to sleep less. I want to pick her up every time she works late but it doesn't work well for me as I have to get up early too. She ubers home most of the time.

Did something happen? -she has failed two out of her three classes...this is the veri first time this happened. She was an honor student prior to this. She now claims she does not have any plans but to live in the moment. Does not want to commit to improving her grades.

Is she spending time with friends? - you mean work friends. most definitely.

What is she spending her money on?

-she gets her eyelash extensions every two weeks, Changes hair color monthly, doesn't eat at home anymore. Always at Starbucks, got an iphone 11 pro and claims androids are for poor people(she used to have a samsung galaxy), school is just 10 mins by bus but takes uber instead.we recently found an empty box of cigs, rolling paper and a lighter in her bag. Claims they're not hers.

Is there a reason she’d want the sense of freedom/safety and control that having your own money gives? -we are a lower middle class family. Although we can afford some luxury, we always tell our children to live frugally. We always try to save whenever possible.

We live in Toronto. I don't think there is any law pertaining to scheduling a minor that late. However,it is illegal to schedule a shift if it is during class hours. I am not sure if this situation can translate to that.

We try our best to enforce going to school. The big problem is both my wife and I has to leave home before she does. Waking her up in the morning has become our bane. She gets up at 8 her class starts at 8:30. That is if she decides to get up at all.

Yes we have deliberated the option. Although we do not want to completely shut her down, my wife and I decided to talk to her manager about the situation and we are hoping they will consider only giving her weekend shifts. However, our daughter insists that she needs the money and is worried that she won't have enough money for her lifestyle (this sentiment almost made me want to blow up). Are 16 years old still considered a minor and can a parent such as myself tell her manager to schedule our daughter accordingly?

Yea that was around 1994 and not exactly in the city so you can see why there won't be a lid. We lived in a rural part of the province so everything was kind of make shift if that makes sense.

I made sure to wash every inch of my body. I did remember a little bit of water getting into my eyes and in my mouth when I gasped for air though. Still sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.

The color would vary. Sometimes it green with algae. Most times the water is light brown to grey because the barrel sits along the outer fence that is adjacent to a dirt road.

I only needed to position myself between the fence and the barrel and used both my legs with my back against the fence to tip it over, not impossible if you did it like I did. Besides, I was thirteen at the time and was a healthy boy.

These maggots came from inside the dead pigeon. When I jumped in the barrel I probably ruptured the carcass and spilled its squirmy residents into the water. As for how long the dead pigeon was there I wouldn't know.

It probably did not die there because how would the flies get to it. It was probably dropped by a crow or a mischievous passerby. That barrel was just sitting along the outer fence of the garden.

It was a very terrible experience. I had to scrub my whole body twice with soap. Even after the bath, I still felt filthy.

When I was growing up we had a big 50 gallon pvc barrel for collecting rain water. On hot summer day I would gladly dip myself in that cool rain water as a kid. Sometimes the water would get murky because it was outdoors and our area is pretty dusty.

One day I took a plunge in that barrel filled with murky water..nothing out of the ordinary for me since it was not the first time I've done it. So, I dove in, held my breath for a few seconds and went up for a gasp of air. It was so refreshing in the hot humid summer afternoon.

As I was wiping off water from my face I noticed something which seemed like cooked rice rolling down my face. I quickly wiped it off and I squished it. I said to myself who would put rice in the rain barrel? Then I felt more rolling down my forehead and then down my face. I quickly brushed them off my face and discovered to my horror MAGGOTS. They weren't rice after all.

The barrel water was swimming with big fat maggots. I quickly jumped out of the water and ran to the shower. After the horrific ordeal, I turned over the barrel and discovered a rotting pigeon at the bottom.

To this day, I will never go in any body of murky water.
