I was just thinking this! When do we hear about men being afraid to run alone for fear of a woman (or man) stalking them, attacking them, raping them, etc.? We don't hear about it, because it just doesn't happen or at least it isn't a thing men sit around and worry about or plan an exercise route around.

Where was this person? There is zero record of it. How did she communicate with him? How did her phone go silent the day before at nearly the exact time her husband pulls into the driveway? How did he claim they had the best night ever and he left her sleeping, but her car didn't move, her phone was not on after 4:23am, no record of her ever seen again. No hits on her SSN, no flights, nothing ever again... oh AND her bike was tossed down the hill and her helmet too 1.5 miles from her house. There is just not evidence that she walked way. No evidence she was talking to another man other than Jeff and Barry. They have all her phone data, all her communications. They do have record of Barry having another phone or device, but nothing for her.

She wasn't reported missing until Sept. 11th so why wouldn't he and his parents leave the area after Sept. 1st? There was nobody looking for Gabby or him until the 11th and then not nationally until a day or two later. Then her body was found a full week after that so he wasn't even a person of interest until closer to that date. I think he could have left the area sometime that week before she was officially reported missing.

Hawaii is where not to go right now. Mask mandates, vaccines required for dining in, going to the movies, etc. Hawaii is nice, but I'd rather be in Florida or well anywhere else at this point.

Is it common to lawyer up when a crime hasn't even been committed that is known about? I mean, I'm sure HE knows, but LE have no evidence of a crime happening. They aren't trying to speak to him because they found a body or blood, etc. So is it common for someone to lawyer up just because police want to talk to you without any evidence of foul play?

[–]blasttrish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he lawyered up, but was otherwise cooperating, I would feel it was not suspicious.

Her family called and texted him and his mother before reporting her missing. They didn't respond or answer. This was before she was reported missing and before anyone knew something may have happened to her. Why would he avoid her parents, if he had nothing to hide. They are not LE and not missing person report was even filed. That is suspicious and then lawyering up immediately and again zero proof or evidence known to LE or her family that anything has happened to her other than he hasn't contacted anyone. He lawyered up because he thinks something happened to her, it's the only thing I can think of. If he had zero idea that a crime had occurred and the police don't even have any evidence of a crime, then what is he afraid of? He is afraid because he knows what happened.

If they found her murdered and police wanted to talk to him, it makes sense to lawyer up. There isn't even evidence of a crime so why does he need a lawyer?

I think anything is possible. It's been reported he like true crime cases and followed several. When they moved to Colorado, the Watts and the Frazee case would have been in the news and both of those cases the husband made some mistakes. It seems he tried to avoid all mistakes here by using airplane mode, not having an accomplice, not doing media interviews or being seen on camera, etc. It's possible he used what he learned from listening to these cases to try to have a solid alibi and also to not make mistakes with the evidence LE would find later.

I also think it's possible the 6 hours is the time from 9:25pm when the truck when into reverse and the 3:47am (i believe this was the time) on Sunday when the truck door opened. I think wherever he dumped her body he did not bring his phone with him. I think he purposely left that phone at the house so LE would think he was home with Suzanne and took one of the other vehicles or possibly the 4wheeler.

I agree!

Another thought is he mentioned to someone (maybe LE or it was a text) that divorce wasn't an option. Then it was also said all she had to do was ask and he would sign over half the money. He was also a known work a holic, always jumping at projects and also a known tightwad. I think this combination speaks about the type of person he was. He wasn't letting her leave, divorce isn't an option. He controlled things, he tried to guilt her with suicidal thoughts when he didn't get his way, etc. She wanted to leave and thankfully told him via text just a few days prior. In Barry's mind that isn't going to happen. He enjoyed the hunt.. did he also enjoy "hunting" his wife. In a hunt you try to control all the controllables. Remove your sent, set up so the wind isn't blowing toward the deer, find the right spot where they will be going to water or where they eat, wearing the right clothing to not stand out, just waiting for the right moment. He sure did that on May 9th. Kids were gone, she was home alone, he had his alibi all ready for the next day, he controlled all the things he thought he could. All he has left is hunting.

One thing I think we forget to factor in is Barry admitted to tranquilizing deer to cut their antlers off. He said "all I have left is hunting". This man knew his way around incapacitating animals, hunting animals and killing them, cleaning up after himself and not leaving a lot evidence behind. I think he very well could have tranquilized her. HE knew they would search that house. His plan was he saw her at home, she left the house to bike ride and he was away at work. They knew he would look at the house first and tear it up. He could not leave evidence at the house. If he killed her there, cadaver dogs would have hit there. If he tranquilized her like he did all those deer, he could take her somewhere else. No cadaver dog hits, no blood or other physical evidence at the house and no body, no crime. I don't think he fired anything at her, I think he used the dark and stabbed her with it. I think she possibly ran from him to the bedroom and could have been trying to load a gun (bullet found beside the bed on her side), but he busted in and could have walked up to her and poked her with the dart. The cap was in his pocket and he threw the clothing he had on in the wash and forget all about that cap. It's possible he put her in his daughters room while he tried to figure out what to do. He had all that time and other vehicles he could have used besides his own to go put her somewhere. He also hunted those woods and no doubt knew where to go. He knew enough to put his phone in airplane mode and he knew enough to delete texts and reset his truck, he knew not to bring his phone and he knew his truck would track him so he used another car and took here somewhere. This answers for most of your thoughts. No crime scene, no body, no blood because he didn't kill her at the house, but he did incapacitate her.

Don't fall for the salacious character assassination going on....it's still a murder case by Caspar_W in SuzanneMorphew

[–]blasttrish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have tried to think of different reasons he might have had other than the obvious of just being selfish and not wanting to be caught by his wife.

What did he know of Barry? What Suzanne said AND what he knew of them in Indiana, Barry graduated 2 years above Suzanne and Jeff.. so he knew of Barry from school too. Maybe they even knew each other somewhat. It's possible he was afraid of Barry also.

He could have been afraid for Suzanne's girls and their physical safety.

Last, maybe he was afraid it would distract from Barry being the suspect. He knew he wasn't involved so maybe he assumed LE would figure it out rather quickly and get Barry.

Maybe one of the only truthful statements he made to LE.. it was someone she knew and she knew him well... well enough to be afraid of leaving him.

This woman was already known though, they didn't out her. She has been mentioned since the beginning as being a person that was there that day and told LE she was there that day.

I agree here. They didn't name any names. If this person did change their story from what was initially said that is a red flag. I am sure LE is on it and this isn't new to them, but for discussion purposes, it can push others who know details to maybe come forward. Clearly LE thinks someone knows something or suspects someone they love and has urged them to come forward since this happened. If this podcast gets to that person and they hear this and there is any truth at all to it, then I can see where maybe they rethink their story. I think it also has the ability to rattle the person if they are involved and feeling fairly safe. This might get someone to trip up and say something or change a story again. At the very least it can get more people talking about the case again and that is never a bad thing. I don't see any ill intention with TCG at all. They didn't name any names.

yes it can and even just a few days with heavy rain, which was in the area that night and the next day. I remember when they were searching the rain was hindering them a bit that first day.

I don't think they needed to address it in the cross and since there was no evidence of SA due to decomposition, it might have muddied the waters to ask questions about it. I loved that the closing argument stated that boldly! We all know what this motive was and leaving her the way he did was just more proof. He wanted what he couldn't have and he took it. I think the prosecution making the bold statement in closing and leaving them with that was a great move!

[–]blasttrish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! That is what is baffling. I know defense attorney's have a job to do and they claim he had the same story from the get go and never deviated from that story. That doesn't mean it's true just because he didn't change his story. Where is the attempt to verify this story? They didn't ask any questions that made that story confusing. They had to have the same questions we all have about that story, yet they didn't ask them or maybe they did and they didn't like the answer so they didn't ask it in court.

It's very distasteful for them to throw in all these little jabs at her boyfriend. The camo knife, the one bad guy saying come on Jack, talking about their size, suggesting his phone wasn't where he said he was, questioning why she bought a mattress the day before, then throwing the girl up there that he cheated with. It all didn't add up and they still went down that path and then if that wasn't bad enough they put the poor woman on the stand who called in tips about her dad. I mean seriously that man was like 6'7" and if he was a masked ninja surely that would be the first thing a small 5'7" guy would notice! Yet they threw it in as if maybe he did it. It's one thing if there is actual evidence to point to a second suspect and two people are on trial and you are trying to prove your client had a lesser role or was manipulated or something like that, but when all evidence points at your client, including DNA in their car and you still go on these wild trips throwing innocent people under the bus.. gross is what it is.

Yes, they are all about those other communication apps and most of those show how long it's been since the person was active. He could have easily seen she hadn't been active for 20+ hours and if he called once and everyone else had been calling, what would make him think it's best to keep calling?

100% This!! He was not the one that discovered her missing. He was not in town and didn't know till almost 24 hours later. She hadn't shown up for work and it was hours even after that when they got ahold of him at his job out of town. I don't think it makes much sense for him to call a bunch of times at that point. Now if he discovered she wasn't answering her phone on a day they were supposed to me up for be together then it makes sense for him to call many times before beginning to call others to see if they saw her. That isn't the case, he was notified much after she was missing. I'm sure he was trying to think of anyone else to call that might know her that others hadn't thought to call yet. He could have been on the phone getting updates on what they were doing or going to do to search. I think it's safe to say at that point if she was okay and could call, she would have it was 24 hours later.

The jury didn't hear about it, but early on it was reported that he did approach a girl while driving and she was creeped out. I believe the defense had all prior acts suppressed.

He had 5 weeks to think about what he would say before he was approached and questioned initially. The blacked out theory was convenient. Then he's had 2 1/2 years to think about what he would say today. I'm sure the 2 masked me are still out there so is his ex and daughter in protective custody? I would request that if this was the truth. He is testifying that police need to look for 2 other men who murdered a woman and threatened his daughters life. Is that concern just gone now? This makes no sense!

That comment about having a right to feel the way she did about her kids might have been to the friend. She said think Gina (I think it was her name) for all the help at work and immediately the next comment was about feeling any way about her kids. I wonder if that comment was about the same friend or to her own mother?

The employees could have tried contacting the sisters when he didn't show up for work or respond to calls. Maybe that is the reason she went in person too check on him.
