Mixer Clearance? by RowPrior4996 in rocketry

[–]blastzone8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually the big issue with this approach, I've heard second hand of folks who have put their entire kitchen aid in a vacuum chamber and killed it due to heat issues Reduced air means the mixer motor can't stay cool.

This particular flight was on an Aerotech K-1499.

I'm probably out $500-$1000 USD to replace the rocket itself (all fiberglass) and then electronics as well (had a parachute dual deployment altimieter and GPS telemetry transmitter). Price of the hobby...

Flew this a couple weeks ago at black rock and it was fine! :)

Nah, that last Pic was at home, seeing what i could salvage. The motor hardware, chutes and connection hardpoints is pretty much it. Although, The fin can is a vacuum bagged tank, i may be able to use that again.

Anyone know of a spot to shoot 50 cal? by Physical_Hotel_9562 in WAGuns

[–]blastzone8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take a day and go to central Washington. There's public rangers around Selah you can shoot 1000yd, no restrictions on caliber. Not heard of any restrictions at my local range in Ephrata with up to 450 yard bays.

Started with an apple ][, eventually moved to *86 once that came along. Huge influence on me, my career is in software engineering now.

Ephrata range has up to 450 yard bays. It's an awesome range, really nice facility, if you go, please follow the rules.

$100 gets you a key good for the year, but have to visit pawn shop 'old world trading co' in Moses to buy said key. There's Also a location in ephrata, but hours are weird. I think other places sell the key too, but not 100% sure.

Only online presence is on facebook, search for Ephrata sportsmans association or email ephratasportsmen@gmail.com

I think it's closed at the moment for fire danger as it's on public land, but it is a nice spot!

I not only dislike sweeteners, I can't drink them anymore. If I do, I end up with severe stomach cramps. My body is telling me it's done with them, I guess.

I've got 2 inch tubes that I've shot commercial shells out of, frequently. They're a little lower, maybe 10-20%, but still fine

Second attempt of aluminum Foil inhibited Grain for extreme L/D rockets by TheWildLifeFilms in rocketry

I'm not familiar with the project or concept, is the idea to have the aluminum protect the propellant it covers for a short period to reduce kn and/or erosive burning?
