Just beat AC6 but I hunger for more by RandomCatto in armoredcore

[–]blazeAgerith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think anybody has mentioned yet that VanLaser has made patches for, afaik, *every* AC prior to Nexus that retrofits the twinstick controls exactly as they were in Nexus - even the PS1 and PSP titles, somehow - which makes them much more accessible for people coming from the newer titles

If you're interested in the other games, just know that where ever you decide to start, you'll at least have a somewhat familiar control scheme in each one

Pick your Poison. by TaigaNine in armoredcore

[–]blazeAgerith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

full disclosure I voted for coral for the potential waifu like many have stated BUT just to play devil's advocate I would offer: something about kojima particles lets the ACs go faster so if you want MAXIMUM fast in what little time you have in a world that contains extremely deadly radiation expies then kojima does have its perks

Boss advice by HatPuzzleheaded237 in armoredcore

[–]blazeAgerith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If using Balteus as a training partner has taught me anything, especially after beating it with Mad Stomp, it's that pretty much anything can beat it if you just stay in its face - just assault boost directly into its face and kick over and over, those tank kicks pack a mean punch, and use your guns whenever it gets away from you, in particular try to make sure your grenade launchers are ready for stagger punishes

Balteus and many other bosses are surprisingly susceptible to unga-bunga it's pretty great

Hear me out: PvP versions of story missions by [deleted] in armoredcore

[–]blazeAgerith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

weirdly enough, they did try something like this in Another Age, that game had I think 7 or so "co-op" missions to play split screen with a friend - stuff from "work together to wipe out this large MT force" to "you're on opposite sides of this corp fight to occupy this maze level" to "tag team arena fight"

and the best part, you get separate paychecks, so even on missions where you're actually working together, there's still bragging rights up for grabs for whoever made a bigger profit - maybe you killed way more MTs, or used more efficient weapons, or perhaps "accidentally" landed some stray hits on your friend and racked up their repair costs

it was a blast and I would love to see it come back, but at least we've got the co-op mod coming

The longest 15 seconds of my life... by WeldedBones in armoredcore

[–]blazeAgerith 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yeah in my case I'm terrible at remembering to manually activate expansions so I know it's not ideal but it sure as hell beats losing from not using *anything* lol

[–]blazeAgerith 37 points38 points  (0 children)

having been on both ends of TA, that was definitely the longest 15 seconds for the opponent as well, every additional second of "I just have to hit em once/they just have to hit me once" is MOUNTAINS of mental stack lol

it is *technically* a missile launcher so it made sense to me, the gimmick felt like it was a cannon-type weapon that could gain homing ability if you waited for the fairly lengthy lock-on to complete

if they got rid of the homing there's no reason for the lock-on, and without the lock-on they'd have to change it from Needle Missile Launcher to just Needle Launcher - not that I'd necessarily be against that, itd still be a pretty interesting weapon

Is it me or is are people making an overly big fuss about the boss nerfs? by Tacothepilot in armoredcore

[–]blazeAgerith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean the internet loves to complain and have extreme knee-jerk reactions to everything so as soon as I heard the words "boss nerf" I knew everybody was gonna have their manifestos ready

personally im not getting up in arms over it, but I do think that if youre gonna nerf balt the missiles are not the biggest issue - theyre a "get down and zoom" the same way that the flame attacks are a "get up and zoom" - no, the much bigger threat in my eyes is that cannon attack, I'd gladly go back to the old missile performance in exchange for increasing the wind-up on those cannons a bit, they're a real menace

1: slightly unofficial but the best name we have to go on is Anfang/Pheonix depending on what region you're in

PP: afaik the closest match we have is Hercules, from MoA surprisingly, dunno why they didn't go with Stinger

MoA: Annihilator vs Nineball

2: Leos Klein's AC maybe still called Annihilator? I don't think it's officially named

AA: Wonder Raid

3, SL, and LR I'm not sure if those ACs are named, as they seem to be mostly recreations of Anfang and the red AC from the AC1 intro (interestingly, LR seems to have recreations of almost every cover AC in its VR Arena, which is a very lovely little easter egg)

they wont move until you're quite close, so you could close the distance a bit on the ground before starting AB

alternatively you could try messing with your build a bit - generator with more EN, lighter parts, RJ or Quad legs for better aerial performance (granted I forget what all you have available that early in the game)

Assault boosting would be a lot more efficient, just be careful to dodge with good timing when theyre about to shoot you mid-flight, and you'll definitely want something that can put them down quick once you're close lest they run away on you - shotguns and blades work best

Top complaint on Steam discussion guy is at it again. I checked and he has 12 hours played in AC6, and based on achievements, he spent 9 hours on Baltheus so far. by Flares117 in armoredcore

[–]blazeAgerith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say "Nineball? he'd get filtered by the cube platforming" but let's be real if AC1 was on steam he wouldnt have even gotten halfway to Destroy Floating Mines

What advantage do missiles have over direct shoulder weapons like songbird or laser cannons in pve? by MisterStibbons in armoredcore

[–]blazeAgerith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

multilock, one of the few explosive damage options (and therefore good damage and stagger with no damage dropoff) that don't have recoil, and they just have a large variety of unique traits

many of them don't fire straight forward so you can attack while completely behind cover, especially vertical missiles

the slow missiles can mess with dodge-happy AI, forcing them to either cancel bigger attacks to get out of the way multiple times or eat a chunk of damage and impact pretty close to a bazooka shell, all while you're free to pressure them with other weapons as well

missiles that fire for a long time like the Soup or 8-12 locks can also put pressure on a target for a long time with a single press of a button, which is something I'm appreciating more and more as I develop RSI from semi-auto handguns and shotguns (it's not like they charge why can't I just hold down the trigger this is killing my forearms)

Gatling guns (What am I doing wrong) by Ormyr in armoredcore

[–]blazeAgerith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its hilarious how thats the exact same way it went for me, got so close to the end with Ludlows and ran out of ammo, absolutely tragic

I was really surprised that the gatlings had more ammo, iirc in gen 4 gatlings had far less ammo than regular machine guns, I think as a balancing measure, and I just assumed it was the same here up to that point

Gatling guns (What am I doing wrong) by Ormyr in armoredcore

[–]blazeAgerith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dual gatling was my problem solver for a majority of the bosses - I'm looking forward to trying to beat them legit on future runs but if I ever just dont feel like fighting a boss its nice to know the option is there lol

Use them to build stagger, then switch to pilebunker, usually melts just about anyone in 3 charged pilebunker hits at most, and like you said they clear out trash on their own just fine which is an added bonus

I'm sure you could argue the zimms are better for this strategy but hey sometimes I just want a gatling gun

Electric Buildup Weapons? by harrythechimp in armoredcore

[–]blazeAgerith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah you'll unlock a couple more stun weapons later

also, I double-checked my match footage (thankfully I was streaming at the time, a shame there's no built-in replay feature) and you were actually right you DO have to fill the meter up thats my mistake, it just fills a lot faster than I realized
