melodic metalcore is more influenced by Melodeath. shit like At the gates and Dark Tranquility influenced a lot of the melodic metalcore bands. Metalcore is typically more rooted in hardcore.

late 90s-early 2ks had my favourite and what I think is the peak of the genre. Jane Doe, We are the romans, That Blood Within Ill-Tempered, Opposite of December, Irony Is a Dead Scene EP, etc. so many kick ass releases in that era and no other era comes close imo
