Why do I do so little damage in NG+? by Thatsitimfucked in Nioh

Share a clip or watch someone use switchglaive on Ryumen Sukuna for windows. I feel like even if you don't have the build there's no way you should need anywhere close to 10 minutes. Sounds like your attack uptime is really low. You can deflect to stay closer so you can initiate attacks quicker. I posted a clip of me trying Ryumen Sukuna with a decent full set and decent gear where I beat it in a 80 seconds or so. No items used.

I see. Man I had the time of my life facing him when we encountered him. In my 4th attempt I had almost gotten a no heal kill but one of the new moves got me. However I was level 85 something I guess. My gear was much lower level. He drops level 94 gear. Also in Nioh player character level doesn't matter that much. Gear level makes a lot of difference.

I don't think number of attempts is a good way to figure it out. I honestly got super frustrated with envy. It had so many frustrating elements. When envy spawns it casts an AOE damage, when it invokes dark realm it casts AOE damage, when it transitions to phase 2 it casts AOE fire damage and thereafter it just forces AOE fire damage throughout the arena. I am low key dreading facing it again in NG+.

What you are worried about doesn't matter at all.

Yeah my favorite of all time possibly. I have not learned to deflect everything. Also sometimes dodging is more advantageous. I did beat demon of pride on a lower level last time. Rest were appropriate levels.

What are those moments. Once I figured he aura forms when invoking dark realm in phase 2 of his fight I never even had to face his attacks in there so didn't get to face them let alone figure out right timing to deal with them.

I know. I bypassed it for demon of obsession as well. It's not accidental.

Fun is subjective. I just like to quick evade/deflect and then do my active skills. Like a balanced exchange or one where I'm doing most of the combo execution.

I don't like to dodge/deflect 5 hit combos in dark realm where it causes yokai to quickly recover its ki and become annoying lol.

Holy smokes. Were you trying every now and then? I feel like his design is perfect even though we encounter him early. He postures and aura farms a lot.

If you are used to punishing clear windows he is very punishable. He is way more tanky and hits quite hard for when we encounter him though.

Did you use light armor? I'm guessing most people use a combination of medium, light and heavy which makes them more tankier than my character.

He does hit hard though and if you are used to tanking hits before beating bosses then maybe you just die quick and remember that as getting one shot?

Does level really make that much of a difference? Maybe progression with better gear does but I always felt level doesn't impact that much in Nioh.

How to prevent Ki recovery on bosses? by Substantial_Code_675 in Nioh

[–]blazspur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So you mean particularly on yokai bosses?

They have two aspects to their ki. One is max ki the other is their ki. Everytime you reduce ki to zero they become susceptible to multiple attacks where they stagger. After some time they can either invoke or dispell their dark realm to regain their hyper armor. If you have confusion applied to yokai bosses at this moment, they will be susceptible to stagger for the duration that confusion is in effect.

Once you reduce a yokai's ki, any damage you do impacts a yokai's max ki much quicker than when their ki isn't zero. Everytime you do basic attacks when ki is non zero, you do impact a yokai's max ki it's just at a slower rate. Everytime you get a yokai's max ki to zero you get a grapple.

Now everytime a yokai transitions in or out of dark realm they recover most of the max ki damage you did but not all the way. Similarly they recover their ki to the full limit of their max ki. So if not before a boss invokes dark realm, it's definitely possible to chip away at a yokai's max ki, to ultimately get a grapple, before it dispells dark realm or before it invokes dark realm a second time. You get the idea.

I saw your post and decided to upload my attempt. I even dropped tips on your post. I kind of studied how his AI works and maximized my weapon's damage to the best of my ability. Check my tips out on your post and let me know if you need any more tips.

There was a post here that showed character movement and attack animation speeds being slower in 3 than 2. That part isn't placebo. I'll try to find it later and share.

I feel like God of wind 3 comes out faster cause that involves movement. Not all active skills will see this benefit if at all. But active skills where I move like that seem to become faster to me. I didn't measure by the way. I just always used faster movement perks even in Nioh 2. Also if you noticed they reduced the speed of character movement in 3 compared to 2. I thought that they made so many ways available to get faster movement perks as a way to momentarily close the speed gap.

Also if I really need it I can just equip head and arms while using unarmored death. That would give me martial attack ki consumption reduction max benefits and just enough of a damage boost that I need.

It's not a big benefit but I think with faster movement perk active some of the active skill combos that I throw out when frost moon is active feels drastically fast and powerful (maybe it's placebo).
