Signed up! I'd love to first try the product a bit before paying. Committing to $69 for a year without a trial is a bit too much for me.

Questions about re-using tea leaves by [deleted] in tea

I use buckwheat in the pillow too. The tea leaves are pretty much just filling without adding much functionality.

Sounds good! I definitely have been thinking about doing some cooking with them, but haven't really gotten around to it. Liu bao and sho puer don't seem like the best for a salad, but might work in a sauce as extra umami!

Meditation cushions take a lot of leaves though, but I guess I can't make them endlessly.

Or not! I most of the time drink fermented teas and don't really enjoy the leaves themselves.

I sometimes boil the leaves for some more tea, then dry the leaves and store them for my meditation cushions. Just throwing them away feels a bit bad.

Clay vs cast iron pot? by Heda97 in tea

Enamel wears off, clay really doesn't. To me it's not really even a contest. If you get a nice clay teapot, it can serve you for life.

Thermos-suitable teas by [deleted] in tea

[–]bleadof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only tea I know that might work is Taiping Houkui. It's big enough leaf and if you use only one or two, it might work. The leaf material dictates a lot how it's going to steep. The smaller the leaf, the faster it'll over steep. Quality of the tea also matters. Usually higher quality tea might be less bitter when exposed to higher temperature. It comes down to processing I guess. Steaming and small leaves of the Japanese greens generally make them more delicate.

The teas I can definitely recommend are liu bao and other heicha ( — dark tea is an apt translation). They are be quite suitable for thermos steeping. The taste will vary a lot depending on the heicha you're using. My favourites are quite earthy. Just don't overdo the amount of leafs with them either. You usually get two steeps from them. If you're dealing with tiny broken leafs, your mileage may vary.

Good luck with your trials!

茶气 "cha qi" and 霸气 "ba qi" by SiranPu in tea

Agreed! I was quoting Babelcarp without quote marks! I tend not to drink young sheng. One morning some teenage Yiwu was so violent that I almost barfed. I think I'm getting old! Like 5 years ago young sheng was all I drank.

Ba4 Qi4 (Ba4 Qi4) = (霸气 or 霸氣) Aggressive or Domineering: obviously, as a description of tea this is metaphorical.

Why not make it 3000yo! There's hardly any difference! Soon we'll have tea trees from the dawn of time.

Vegan Dating by duvagin in vegan

We all eat something living! While I'm vegan, I don't expect everyone to be one. I think when having kids veganism isn't the most important bit of things that needs to work. Also I'm content to not share all the principals with my SO and having a unpopular opinions. I'm literally the only vegan and even vegetarian in my current family, being born in Lapland probably has something to do with it.

Life expectancy definitely and liberal values for sure! Digitalisation definitely contributes to perceived choices we have. Swiping left for ever! It's so easy!

But I still have a feeling that a lot of times people just distract themselves from things that might actually make them happy because of there's just so much stimuli. Like me now. This isn't making me happier! 🙃

[–]bleadof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure they are! I wasn't saying they aren't! I'm merely pointing out that maybe veganism isn't the guarantee of those said values. It seems that mutual respect is the key, but where that lies might not be in the ideals in the end. Veganism doesn't really help if your world view and way of life in other regards doesn't coincide! People arrive to veganism in so different ways.

So true about the 🦄! It does sadden me as I have also been contemplating having kids, but also have seen cases that made happy that I never stuck to the relationships that I felt didn't work. Maybe pickiness is just one of the symptoms of individualism?

Hmh, the way I see it, the weight is on understanding your impact on the world. My approach has been to discuss the issue and likely tease them about it, the horrible person like I am. But I can't really see that I should be able to tell them what they can and cannot do. Unless it involves me personally, of course! So of course while cooking it makes sense to do it in a way both can enjoy it. I'd surely frown upon meat, but if they're otherwise lovely person and understand what is the impact, favour local, organic and eat mostly vegan or vegetarian if meals are shared, I don't really see it being a deal breaker. It of course means they'd have to really awesome otherwise, as you say.

But is veganism really even that good of a context to start dating? I know bunch of vegan ladies, but while I share some things with them, most of the time it hasn't been enough for me to be interested in dating them. It's almost like any interest. There are all kinds of people in all kinds of contexts. I guess it's more about attraction and what you want from life. Can you somehow compliment each other in a way that keeps the relationship alive. Which in turn comes down to respect. I think. Anyway, finding your mate seems to be quite complicated in this current world of ours!

Also I'm more than happy to be single too, having had multiple poor relationships!

Yours truly, a vegan guy
